“ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS – AND EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS BY A MILE”

We stayed here in November 2011 for 15 days, and have to say that we were super-impressed, and the price is very reasonable. We booked because of the photos shown on Trip Adviser, and the apartment is just as you see it in the photos with no deception. Great location.

Skol Apartments was one of the first big hotels in Marbella in the 1970s, and now converted to private apartments. This 5th floor apartment (with lift or stairs access) is astonishing in all aspects of cleanliness and facilities. It is a real home from home, and if the apartment doesn’t have it, you probably don’t need it.

It has a magnificent view of the sea combined with a view over the three swimming pools; one of which was under renovation while we were there.

The lounge has everything you want with a beautiful old wooden cabinet stuffed with books, DVDs, and all sorts of knick-knacks you might find useful on holidays, such as binoculars. The settee is a double bed settee, so you could feasibly have four people stay here, although that might be a bit tight. There’s free WiFi in the building’s reception area, although if you’re an internet fanatic, you’ll probably use one of the many local restaurants which have free WiFi. The grounds around the Skol Apartments are secure, with large iron gates on every access point, to which you get a key, and if you forget your key, there’s a 24 hour reception. One of the gates opens up onto the Marbella sea front which gives easy access to the beach and restaurants.

It has complete cooking facilities, including pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, oven, microwave, full-size fridge-freezer, toaster, and dining table and four chairs. The apartment is air conditioned in both the main lounge and the bedroom as well as ceiling fans in both, and in case you come in Winter, there’s an electric radiator heater which we used, and really warms up the apartment. There’s a television which gets BBC1, 2 and 3 plus sky news and ITV. There’s a DVD player and dozens of DVDs to choose from in the cabinets, along with dozens and dozens of books.

One of the most important things in a holiday apartment is the bathroom and toilet, and there’s nothing worse than experiencing mould and mildew. None of that here! The bathroom and toilet area is immaculate and white and equally as good as most 5-start hotels I’ve stayed in. The bedroom has plenty of space, drawers and cupboard and more coat hangers than you can poke a stick at. (There’s nothing more frustrating than arriving on holiday to find 3 coat hangers in a cupboard!) Not here! There’s even a towel rail heater so you can wake up to warm dry towels.

The bed is two singles pushed together, but the linen is double bed size, so you don’t fall between the gaps. Almost as good as a real double bed! They’ve left plenty of spare linen and bedding. Spare blankets are in the cupboard high above your head when you enter the apartment. (and mentioned because we couldn’t find it at first.)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as great value for money.
