Calle Larios is one of the most attractive shopping streets in Spain. It is for pedestrians only, so one does not have to worry about cars. There are many first class stores on the street and there are also cafeterias where one can stop and have refreshments.

Calle Larios is a shopping street in Málaga a little longer than 1km, full of shops and side streets to cute scenic streets, boutiques, and restaurants. At Christmas they decorate it with a "ceiling" of Christmas lights, and on the square they have a Christmas tree made out of lights which all turn on around 8pm. It is generally nice to stroll around there, and enter the shops.

Makes you feel like a kid with the christmas spirit again! Lovely place and wonderful venues surrounding. Light shows are 18:30 and 21:00. Make sure you go early to avid traffic and get parking! Kids love it!

What a lovely pedestrianized street close to the historic part of Malaga . It is full of main stream shops but also lovely side streets with literally hundreds of restaurants and tapas bars. Always busy , it is full to bursting in December with its amazing Christmas lights.

Going to Malaga and not visiting Calle Larios is akin to going to Paris and ignoring the Champs Elysees. Most cities have focal points with some as famous as the city itself, Las Ramblas in Barcelona probably being one. Calle Larios was opened officially to the public way back in 1891 and it is now a vibrant, fully pedestrianised and marble paved thoroughfare with many big names in situ, Massimo Dutti, Mango, Farrutx, Antonio Parriego, Zara, Swarovski etc. Most of my favourite haunts are hereabouts, the very accommodating hotel Room Mate Larios, the wonderful Cafe Central, Lepanto a great coffee shop, Picasso's birthplace, Casa Mira for sublime ice cream, the awesome Cathedral with it's Baroque organs and of course finally the Picasso museum itself. Ordering coffee in the Central can be complicated for the uninitiated but a cortado should satisfy most tourist tastes. Street entertainment is generally of a very high standard and varied including classic, vocal and guitar and the lighting and pageantry displays at Christmas and Easter are just legendary. Last year Malaga was selected as the best city in Spain at Christmas ahead of Madrid and Seville by a long shot.
