Description: Plaza de Las Chinitas is a restaurant specialized in fish and seafood with a traditional style, located in one of the most emblematic areas of Málaga "El Pasaje de Chinitas". We offer an excellent selection of both fish and seafood that is chosen carefully directly from the sea. We are also the only restaurant offering fish to the spit right in the heart of Málaga city.

Just a short block from Plaza de la Constitucion and the food goes from good to great. We looked at a number of sidewalk cafes but typically the seafood was fried. The guys at Plaza de Chinitas assured us we could enjoy fresh grilled seafood. Just inside the door was a display of fresh fish, octopus, shellfish etc on ice. Our "singing" waiter Antonio suggested the snapper as the fish of the day and maybe some grilled octopus as a starter. Well the octopus was served on a bed of finely sliced potatoes and may have been some of the best octopus we have eaten anywhere, perfectly grilled perfectly seasoned and very tender. My wife and I really enjoyed them but then out comes a whole snapper served with sliced potatoes cooked with peppers, onions and perfectly seasoned plus a salad. We both ended up with a huge plate of the most delicious food. The fish like the octopus was perfectly grilled and wonderfully seasoned. We both agreed Plaza de Chinitas was a very lucky place to find. The chef separated the fresh fish from the bone in front of us. This is one of the few times I also ate the skin as it was crispy and well flavored. Our whole experience was great. Antonio sang a few versus, they gave us a free desert sampler and made sure we had anything we wanted. We did not want to add any seasoning, sauce or anything to change the flavor of this excellent piece of fish. We hope to return before we leave Malaga. Do yourself a favor and stop by for great grilled seafood.

Ended up at Plaza de Chinitas by chance walking in Malaga looking for a place to eat. We had a very nice experience with good food, nice staff. The place has a location at ta small square making it very cosy. We had gamas and then a seafood paella and it was all very tasty. Highly recommended.

We ate here and wished we hadn't. The staff were very pushy when we walked though the plaza and we were so tired of walking that we succumbed to their pressure, Bad move! I love squid and saw on the menu that it was by weight with a price per 100g. (All the fish was priced like this so you didn't have any idea what you might get, size-wise). So far so good, but - I have never in my travels or when shopping seen such a massive squid as the one which was put in front of me. Stupidly, I should have asked to see the size of it first. It was 38cms long! The squid was so huge I only managed a third of it and the cost, when the bill came, was a massive 36 euros, just for one squid! It didn't even taste good, it was so rubbery. The salad which was with it was only shredded lettuce, tinned sweetcorn and grated carrot, the side order grilled vegetables were only a few half tomatoes and a few slices of pepper, and the bread was chewy and tasteless. My husband had grilled anchovies for his starter and is convinced to this day that they were sardines, they were so big. Why this restaurant seems to only have monster sized seafood I don't know. Maybe the big stuff is cheaper by the kilo wholesale as no other restaurants want it?
This was the worst meal in every respect that we had in two weeks touring Andalucía, and was one of the most expensive. Avoid.
