I last stayed here several years ago and it’s very much the same. I didn’t have much choice this time as I went at the last minute and prices were reasonable as part of a BA flight and accommodation package.

The first thing to note is these apartments aren’t disabled friendly and range from ground to third floor. There are steps to most of the apartments and there are no level access showers, just shower over bath. Parking is easy on the road, but they also offer free underground parking. There aren’t any elevators unlike their sister apartments - Casares Del Mar luxury apartments, front-line beach, about a mile away.

With Al Bayt Resort you really need a car to get around. The beach is about 1500 metres away, but you must cross a very dangerous road, the A7, to get there. The apartments are handy for neighbouring towns such as Estepona, Sabinillas and Duquesa ports. Gibraltar is about a 40-minute drive away.

I was given a one bed garden apartment with mountain and sea views. It was a compromise to get the sea view as I had to downgrade to a one bed, when a two bed was purchased as part of the holiday price. However, as I was a sole traveller it didn’t bother me that much. At least I got the views I wanted. The apartments are nicely laid out, open plan with lounge, kitchen and dining area. With the garden apartments there are French doors to the patio and small well tendered garden. The kitchen is well stocked with most of what you would need. Cutlery, crockery, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a conventional oven. A TV is provided with mostly local channels and radio. Parking and security is good.

The reception which serves Al Bayt Resort and the beach apartments isn’t open 24/7. It operates 9-5, seven days a week. If you arrive after these hours, you need to call the concierge/security on their mobile. It’s important therefore that you have a mobile phone. If you depart outside the reception hours, you post the keys in the post box on the wall outside reception.

Free Wi-fi is available and it’s a good signal. The staff on reception are professional and very friendly. I would like to mention Tony, who was very helpful. The apartments are essentially self-catering, but there’s a restaurant off the reception area where you can buy breakfast and lunch. There’s also a clubhouse bar, which I have never stepped foot in, so can’t comment. There's at least one outdoor swimming pool.

As I say the resort doesn’t bear a patch on their beach apartments, but for one week it was comfortable.

Room Tip: Try for a ground floor garden apartment with sea and mountain views

Nice resort easy to find by car. Reception staff good. Apartment ready by 4pm. Room had all facilities. Big spacious and clean. Had a swimming pool shared by a few residents. Nice and peaceful. Spa facilities fine and ad two relaxing visits. Had a special offer for clients (nice). You need transport if you want some action and visit Puerto Deportivo in Estepona or Town Centre. Sabinillas is a small coastal town nearby with a nice Puerto de la Duquesa. I would go again.

Had a lovely stay, our apartment was huge and modern. Open plan living/dinning with balcony over looking swimming pool.
3 spacious bedroom one ensuite 2 with balconies
Kitchen with dishwasher washing machine and balcony
Sun terrace on 3rd floor
Unground parking
All tastefully decorated
Swimming pools a little boring as no inflatables allowed
Spa was over priced so we didn't use
Breakfast was awful just go self catering we only used twice as so bad
If staying go to Benahavis for dinner exceptional restaurants such as Molino Del Conde we wanted to try los albinos but it was full on the Wednesday so worth booking
Best beach was playa la rada and there were great places to eat here too there is a Lidel to the right and an Aldi to the right

This resort has excellent facilities with large furnished apartments and 7 swimming pools. It also has a spa, gym, padel tennis court and golf driving range, all at an extra charge. The only downside with the resort is that it is a little cut off, especially if you want to go walking as it's fairly near to the A7 which is almost impossible to cross by foot. From a driving perspective, Albayt is about 30 minutes from Gibraltar, 10 minutes from Estepona and half an hour from Marbella, so a good central location for the Costa del Sol.

We had a 3 bedroom apartment, and it was amazingly spacious. Each bedroom had an ensuite, and there were around 4 balconies/ sun terraces. 7 swimming pools in total, so they did not get busy. Used the new bar/restaurant one evening, and this was good (there was a local spanish dancing group there on our night doing dance routines!). Good gym for 5 Euros , and spa pools looked nice, but we did not use (refurbished recentlyl) . Free wifi.
On the downside, you need a car since it is a few km from Estapona and buses only every 2 hours I think. Complex is over the main road from the beach, and nowhere to cross without walking a little way. Beds/pillows not that comfortable.
