A must when in Almeria! Great view of the city, beautiful buildings and history is all around you! The best is that they kept the original ruins in some places.

We did enjoy our walk around this castle and recommend it. We went early and it was quiet. Lots of history but guide only in Spanish. Self explanatory however. Hat anc water needed!

Enjoyed talking around the castle and exploring all the various parts. Beautiful gardens and lots of walking involved. Well worth the visit.

We spent a few hours visiting this enormous castle. It is a beautiful place with magnificent views from the top. It is quite a large site involving a lot of walking. There are guided tours for those interested in the detailed history. I would advise good, non-slip footwear though as the cobbled paths can be a little slippery on the way back down. I know, as I had to be helped up after an undignified slide. Even if history isn't your interest, I would still recommend visiting as this is a breathtaking place.

If you find yourself in Almeria, you must go to Cristobal and the Alcazaba, a wonderful solitary experience where all went off in different directions at our own pace to explore the site, gaping at the views, and taking in the silence. Inside the walls of the alcazaba one enters a quiet, almost melancholy place where the imagination is necessary to conjure up what might have been in this fort of the moors
