There are two beaches. Both sell snacks & drinks (incl beer) but all the facilities only take EC card, not visa/MasterCard, & there isn't a cash machine anywhere nearby. Parking is free, you only pay to access the beaches (€7 for me & 3 kids all day), but the forest trails are free.

North beach is larger and has a play park for children. We didn't go in the beach here.

Nearby - (200m) you can hire pedalos which are themed by cars; (the Ferrari had gone so my kids chose the police car) there are lickers to keep your bags in while on the lake & a big bin of life jackets outside for the kids/non swimmers. Hire sail boats if you have a licence. Also theres a restaurant/bar next door overlooking the lake. You don't pay to go in any of this area as its non-swimming.

South beach has a high ropes activity centre just next to it, my kids tried to go on but there was no one there, although it was open. There is also a windsurf & paddle-board hire place - again they don't take visa/MasterCard. My children paddle boarded for a couple of hours round the lake & thought it was wonderful. It's only €12 ph. There's a free playground outside too & a lakeside cafe which we didn't use.

Inside the beach area the water is marked with those floating ropes you get in pools, so it's easy to know where the shallow water is for young kids. There's a floating jetty & a pontoon to swim out to & a lifeguard.

The nudist beach has a separate sunbathing area, the swim sections are adjacent. This was not a problem for us. To get to the nudist beach just go in the main entrance for south beach & there's a path.

There are several changing rooms & loos, 2 volley ball areas, a football field & snack bar serving drinks & chips. Lots of grass to sunbath on, bins & hardly any wasps.

The place is completely beautiful, well looked after & one of the nicest hot days out we've had.

Went here for the day with a group of five. We were staying in the centre of Dusseldorf so had to get a bus.... but it was worth it. The lake and surroundings were very beautiful. The hire of the pedalos were reasonable 20 euro deposit 4 euro for half hour 20 cent every minute after the half hour. The beach was 3 euro 50 to enter a small price for the up keep of the area. There were pontoons too swim too and the water was very clean and fresh. With showers toilets and cafe on site also lots of other facilities. I would recomend a visit.
