Very unassuming when you first walk into it. Then you realize how the architects have designed the site. You don't need to spend a lot of time here but it's a must see.

A memorial for you to reflect and have your in thoughts on.
Such a shame that people felt it appropriate to stand on them

Everyone has their own idea of what emotions this memorial is meant to evoke -- we had two different guides tell us different things. Suffice it to say that it's disturbing, which is undoubtedly what is intended.

It was a boring place but it has a lot of value for the Germans. It represents a lot to them.
It is a place for remembering the people who got killed.

It really is a stunning sight and evokes a sense of scale that brings home the gravity of what it memorializes. The only drawback is the tourists and their kids running around and climbing like it’s a playground instead of a solemn place, but security guards were trying to address that.
