My wife and I had a fantastic 6-7 hour walking tour of Berlin with Ronen in early September 2017. How good ? Well, we then took a cruise which visited Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Tallin, Stockholm, Olso, Amsterdam, and when people ask us what was the highlight of our trip, we tell them: Ronen's tour of Berlin ! That's right, Ronen beats out the original Van Goghs, Rembrandts and Michelaneglos that we saw in museums along our trip. Because, in his own right, Ronen is a master too ! By way of background, we signed on to the cruise because we believed that Berlin would be a port of call, and we really wanted to visit and learn about Berlin. When we realized that Berlin was actually a few hours from the port where we would dock in Germany, and we would not have that much time in Berlin, we changed our plans (at some cost and inconvenience) specifically to fly to Berlin first and visit the city. So, we really had a lot "at stake" in doing so. And Ronen exceeded our expectations. First, he is a very nice and personable fellow. He was very helpful in email communication before our trip re. the logistics. He met us at our hotel at 9:30 AM and we spent a magical 6-7 hours with him. He told us -- and showed us - - about the history of Berlin, from medieval times, through Nazism, Communism, reunification and the present day. He could tailor the tour to any particular interest we had. It was amazing to stand where history was made and our world and lives shaped by events, with Ronen as our guide. Ronen created memories , and learning, which will endure for us. He enriched our lives, and we cannot recommend him highly enough.

Heather Ellis took my wife and I for a 6 hour walking tour of Berlin - wish it was longer!!! To say we enjoyed the tour would be an understatement - Heather's knowledge and the way she conveyed it across to us was impressive to say the least. We left Berlin with a completely different perspective about it - it's a beautiful city and well worth a visit. And if you do, I highly recommend having Heather show you around and tell you about it and it's history.

Jim guided myself and 5 friends around Berlin, answering our many questions about it's history and discussing in depth with us both recent events following reunification, and history from the medieval period onwards. It was absolutely fascinating and we all thoroughly enjoyed how hugely well informed and enthusiastic he was. The pictures showing the contrast between wartime Berlin and the exact spots we were standing were particularly interesting. He also got some Bowie references in for us. Jim was prompt and courteous, and very responsive to any emails.

Given Berlin's fascinating, troubling, and textured history, we were urged by friends to hire a guide for a morning to better understand and truly see Berlin through a more informed lens. In response to a quickly answered email in which were asked about interests and availability, we indicated that rather than one of the singly-focussed walks offered, we'd like to take a more multi-perspective approach to appreciate the influences of politics, culture, Jewish life, gay life, art and architecture on one another. The response to this customized approach was, "great...and the perfect guide, Ronen Altman Kaydar." And we agree. Ronen is a smart, thoughtful, and articulate historian and gifted storyteller. In what seemed like a very short four hour period, we moved throughout Berlin (efficiently and effectively using--and enjoying--every form of Berlin's public transit system)hearing and learning Berlin's 20th century story through the confluence of themes Ronen artfully wove together as we ambled our way through side streets, inner courtyards, boulevards, old neighborhoods and new. Truly a highlight of our visit to Berlin. Ask for Ronen--he's informed, engaged and generous...he even helped us to plan out our must-see/must-do list for the balance of our stay.
