Beautiful castle overlooking the old town. Take a walk up to the castle and wander the rooms then stop for a drink in the square and watch the world go by. The castle is a must see visit when in Nuremberg.

If you want to visit a castle in Germany this is one that should be on the top of your list. It's large and has a nice historical exhibition that you walk through as you view the castle. It has a tower you can climb up and a well you can look down what more can you ask?

Literally the high point of the city, I recommend taking a guided walking tour of this castle to understand it's historic significance to the city as well as getting the details of each panoramic city view. The walk is moderate in that there are several ups and downs (but no stairs) along the way. Our tour started on one side of the castle and ended at the opposite city center main plaza below, thus adding some other buildings of historic significance and giving upward views of the castle towers and ramparts. Especially nice on a pretty day.

This is a must in a visit to Nuremberg. It has a lot of historical value and you get ashtoning views of the city. Although it was largely destroyed by war it was reconstructed so perfectely that retains its medieval charming. Do not miss climbing the stairs to the top of the tower

We did not pay to go inside to the exhibitions, but you can walk around most of the castle anyway. It is a lovely complex, well worth the walk up the hill. Lots of fantastic architecture to admire.
