The room are clean, spacious & Good value for money. The staff is helpful. Location is good it's located within walking distance of central station. It's budget hotel so no bell desk or concierge service. WiFi needs improvement.

We stayed at this hotel early June.
We had a great time in Munich and Bavaria, this hotel is idealy situated to enable this.
5 minutes from the train station. 10 minutes from center of Munich.
Staff were great, accomadation spacious and well appointed. Room bar that was free that is great after a day traveling for a wee nightcap.
Infact we are going back in December to repeat. Only not in shorts.
Mercure has it right. Well done team see you soon.
Many regards and thanks

Be aware the review that follows covers a 3 night stay, June of 2018, in one particular custom room (MyRoom by Vali and Toni) that I believe was privately owned. The reviewer is NOT sure which aspects of this particular room are applicable to other rooms. We did not use their restaurant or other facilities.

Pros: The upgraded room wasn’t huge but had plenty of room and it, like the entire hotel, was very clean. The blackout curtains were fantastic, every hotel room across the world should have these. The complementary drinks in the room fridge was an outstanding and highly appreciated feature. The fog free mirror in the bathroom was an excellent touch. I found the king size bed and coverings to be very comfortable.

It was great being a 4 minute walk to the Hauptbanhof train station (where many bus tours also begin), a 7 minute walk to Old Town and a 16 minute walk to Marienplatz. There are plenty of good restaurant, retail and grocery choices nearby, notably, 4 minutes away at the train station, a 24 hour market. (Note: The S8 SBahn train will take you from the airport to the Hauptbanhof train station in 41 minutes. Very convenient.)

Best aspect of all for this hotel were the folks. We found the agents manning the lobby desk to be wonderfully nice and helpful. All of them. Well done.

Cons: It is a total mystery why someone thought it a good idea to not put a door on the shower. Outside noise sounded like it was right outside the window and even somehow amplified though we were on the fifth floor. At 545 every morning something was being moved in the courtyard and it sounded like a train was rolling through.

This is not a swank area of Munich. This street is a bit dingy but typical for this particular area. There are 3 adjacent youth hostels and a couple of other hotels on the block but this street is still not nearly as busy with foot traffic as adjacent streets are.

About that 7 minute walk to Old Town. Each time we took it we ended up passing at least a half dozen beggars in various states of distress. Looked like the results of Merkel’s decision to open the borders to immigrants fleeing their countries for various reasons.

Given the previous two paragraphs, understand that at no time did we feel unsafe and we spent a fair amount of time walking the area.

The lobby is very small and there were never more than 2 people working at the tiny front desk. Not sure if it was just luck we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes or if those guys are just that good at what they do.

Overall, there are things to be aware of but the good easily outweighs the bad at this Mercure property. I believe its 4* rating is spot on, and an excellent choice if the price is right. You will appreciate the hotel workers, the local dining choices and the proximity to the train station and to Old Town.

This hotel is very accessible. Just get the S1 or S8 line from the airport direct to the main central station. As with all major railway stations, with Munich central there are multiple exits so it is easy to take the wrong exit. Just look out for Burger King in the main station where the food outlets are and take the exit next to it. Cross the road then turn left heading towards C&A and you will walk past Senefelderstr. The hotel is in a busy little street with a few youth hostels but we never encountered any issues whatsoever.

We had a fast check-in and a warm welcome from Norbert on reception. He was very helpful and gave us a map and offered some general advice. Hotel room and shower were clean and perfect for what we wanted.

The hotel is around a 10 minute walk from the Marienplatz but you also have a choice of transport links being close to the station. This hotel was also handy for tours such as organised trips or the Hop On Hop Off buses as most seem to leave from the front of the Karstadt department store opposite the main station so if you're booking trips you're a 5 minute walk away from you're likely pick up point.

Overall a very good stay in a handy location.

My husband, adult daughter and myself stayed in this lovely hotel in mid May. The hotel is very close to the main train station (maybe a 5 minute walk) and is very close to MarienPlatz. We were able to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go from this great location. We had read reviews that it was noisy due to the two hostels that are very close, but we were there over a weekend and had no issues with noise or with travellers loitering. This was one of only two hotels we stayed in in Europe that provided a mini bar fridge in the room, and the contents of which were complimentary. Our room was a very good size for three people and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel was neat, clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating to us non-German speaking Canadians. The hotel breakfast was extremely good as well. My only complaint is that the air conditioning in the room did not work very well but we kept the window open and we were good.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor with a room that faced the back of the hotel.
