Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is around 0.8 km from the rail station. Reception was ok but a little slow. Nice lobby area. My room had a nice side view of the river. No safe though. Lovely location next to the river. Shuttle ferry every hour except on Tuesdays takes you to the old town. €9 to the old bridge. Staff in the hotel mostly very good and friendly. Nice seating area outside the grill 16 restaurant is a lovely peaceful place to relax. Only noise comes from the frequent ambulances from the hospital which around a km away. Not a cheap hotel and I question its value for money. But with some very nice staff it made for an enjoyable stay. If you are travelling to Frankfurt airport, the hotel can arrange a transfer with TLS for €38 which is a quarter of the price you would pay for a taxi, and takes about an hour.

Overall a very nice stay. The hotel is a little further away from the old town area of Heidelberg than others are but not too bad (20 minute brisk walk). The evening appetizers in the lounge were a little below average when compared to other Marriotts I have been to such as the Frankfurt Marriott and Budapest Marriott. Finally, the fixtures, doors, decor, and overall appearance of the hotel and rooms looked a little dated with a lot of older looking wood trim. The rates are a little high considering all of this.
On the good side, I was upgraded to a room with an excellent view due to my platinum status. My checkout was also extended to 4 PM with ease and I even came back a little later than expected due to the walk from the old town so excellent service from the staff on that. The breakfast in the lounge was good. I even came in a couple minutes after it closed and the attendant let me make a plate before taking everything away. Great service from the staff.

Located on the river Neckar in Heidelberg. Very friendly staff did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The room was very comfortable and air conditioned. Take the water taxi or a regular taxi to the “Altstadt” and the Heidelberg castle. Excellent breakfast. I will be going back for a longer visit. Very enjoyable stay.

I stayed at the Heidelberg Marriot hotel during a business trip for 3 nights in Oct 2017 and it was an awesome experience. I got upgraded to a room with a view of the river and Heidelberg Castle.

The staff at the reception were very courteous and offered me suggestions on visiting the beautiful Heidelberg Castle and nearby areas as well as some nice Indian restaurants close by.

The lounge offers a wide selection of drinks and light food in the evenings, the restaurant in the lobby level has a wide selection of items (includes vegetarian options). The breakfast spread was also elaborate.

Had a very pleasant stay and highly recommended for both business and vacation stay.

Room Tip: Room with River View

Marriott is world wide and brings a level of comfort we are used to in the USA. But this hotel does a great job of providing a bit of a German flavor to an otherwise typical but great hotel. I recommend the Executive level if you will be at the hotel enough to take advantage of the free food. It was really a great breakfast and dinner was almost a full fledged dinner complete with free wine and beer.

But the number one reason to stay is the amazing view of the Neckar River. I would go 5 stars if their rates didn’t go back and forth like a drunk walking his dog. That is truly sad. $125 one day and $215 the next. Otherwise, book when the price is right and enjoy.
