We enjoy a good walk and this didn't disappoint us, lovely walking through the town and then the forests, with amazing view back across the river towards the Castle. The paths were good and for us proved no issues in good trainers. There are plenty of places to get food and drink once you cross back over onto the other side of town.

Thank Simon H

This is a great trail to walk and see Heidelberg from a distance. Beautiful views and picture points! Lots of places to stop for a picnic or even get an ice cream or beer along the way at a little shop there on the trail. Mark Twain is said to have hiked this trail even. We come up here to watch the fireworks over the castle every year! Keep in mind it’s a steep climb somewhat when you get started.

This path is just one of many ways to get up the hill. It does have some good view points overlooking the town.

Many philosophers used this path to get inspiration. I’m sure they already lived uphill. It’s the best view from Heidelberg, the Neckar river, the old bridge and the castle, but it has quite an inclination in some areas. Make sure you’re wearing comfy shoes. I recommend to start from the Theodor-Heuss bridge, you’ll have the stairs to go down near the “Alte Brücke”

This is a lovely place for a hike, walk or bike. So many paths and trails for exploring. If you take the stairs up, prepare for some effort.. its not easy but great exercise and worth it.
