Breathtaking views of the Heidelberg bridge, and the surrounding city, and of course of the Heidelberg Castle! Wonderful walk up steep narrow stairs, quite a work out. A few spots on the way up to sit and rest. Once at the top, you could spend quite a bit of time just admiring the view. We have been there many times over the years. Our favorite city in Germany.

This is really a nice walk upslope through the residential area and into this trees view with peaceful surroundings. Good for a workout or run here. The view is very nice but mostly are block by the trees. Good to have a seat here quietly, enjoy the view and breeze without any disturbance.

The way to the top of Heiligenberg is a must in Heidelberg! Great views over the castle and the Old Town of Heidelberg, diverse culture sights, like Thingstätte, rests of St. Michaels monastery and the older Celtic wall will be a fantastic experience in addition to the Heidelberg Old Town and Castle.

It’s a pretty steep (and slippery when wet, because of the cobble stones) climb via the “Schlangenweg”, which is the easiest way to get there I suppose because it’s just opposite from the Old Bridge. I guess that, when visiting Heidelberg, this walk should be on your list, the view on the town, castle and bridge is great. The best view on Heidelberg however (imo) is from the castle (garden), where you can go with a funicular for € 7. Skip the Philosophenweg walk if your physical condition or your legs are not good. Summarized: the Philosophenweg hike is an adventure and good work-out, but not the best view on Heidelberg, the second best
