Spouse and I enjoyed the 3.5 hour mixed-gender bathing cycle two weeks ago for the first time. If you're not comfortable being naked among strangers, don't worry. The process is highly regulated, moderately monitored, and they are clearly used to newbies.
After paying at the front desk, you'll get a bracelet that allows you to lock and unlock your clothing locker and tracks your time in the spa. You'll be sent to your (un)dressing room to lock up your things and given the large cotton sheet which you use as an underlayment on the first couple of lounge chairs. There are also foldable square mats on shelves outside each of the wet saunas to sit on after you pass your sheet off.
Although there are 17 stages, you may choose to skip stages (my husband and I, for example, were the only people we noticed actually attempting the cold-water baths). You can also repeat steps multiple times (except for the "service" stages where they scrub you or lotion you).
We did the "soft" soap scrub, which is actually pretty handy, because after they scrub you down, you notice how the water is slightly carbonated, which feels pretty cool.
Also, in a room full of naked people, we are excruciatingly polite. You don't make eye contact, but you don't watch for body language either. Nobody is staring at you because just like three-year-olds playing peekaboo, you tell yourself if you don't look at them they can't see you. Easy-peasy! Everyone gets a wide berth in the baths.
If you're in the neighborhood, give it a go. It may take you an hour or so to truly relax (the hot sauna is super helpful for that), but we've decided that we'll definitely come back again.
