I came here for lunch on Easter day and was very lucky to get a table. The food was excellent, very flavorful and I'd say a good taste of Lyonnaise cuisine. The staff was very nice, friendly and attentive. The restaurant was decorated nicely to create a warm ambiance, allowing one to relax and really enjoy the food. Overall, it was a great experience!

My fiancé and I came here for dinner as it was the only place not overly packed during dinner service. Service was very friendly, with English speaking waitstaff, along with very lovely decor inside the restaurant. I ordered the pasta with bacon in cream sauce, while my fiancé ordered the Lyonnaise sausage in wine sauce. Both dishes were enjoyable and well made, we wish we had a larger appetite to order more. If you're looking for a decent restaurant for dinner in the Old Town area, I recommend coming here. They have a good variety of dishes to choose from.

We went to this restaurant and found it ordinary by Lyon standards. The meal was not enjoyable, the restaurant was overcrowded with tables packed together that it was uncomfortably close to the people next to us. The staff were attentive but it seemed they were out to make money from tourists rather than focussing on providing quality food. We will not return here - we can do better elsewhere.

This is our 2nd bouchon restaurant in 2 days. After the first one at the Chabert & fils in rue des Maronniers, I honestly did not know what to expect from the service in restaurants in Lyon. As much as the waiters and especially the waitress in Chabert were unprofessional, mean and un respectful of their patrons, the waitress at the Francois Villon was the complete opposite. She was nice, gave us good advice on picking food.
Food that we had were very good, very tasty (4 dishes: gambas; andouillette; salade lyonnaise; salade d'orange). Portions were generous. And they even offered some "gratons" to snack while waiting for the first dish.

Overall, we were very satisfied and would recommend this place.

One more point: we were there around 20:00, and the restaurant was busy but not too busy. Everyone who came in had a table immediately. This is important to note, because by reading the other comments, it seems clear that the mood of the service depends of how busy the waiters are.
In this particular time, there were enough waiters to attend properly and professionally to all the patrons.

Thank ftrest

We had a very enjoyable meal here, sampling many of the bouchon favourites. The service was friendly. Most of the tables are inside, but that lends the restaurant a cosy air. A good "pot" of cotes du rhones was an inexpensive accompaniment to the various meat based dishes. The starters were quite generous, which left us feeling rather full at the end of the meal, as we lacked the willpower to stop eating. All in all, a good evening and good food.
