We loved our stay in Dolce Vita during a 5 day stop off on our french and italian trip. It was on the 2nd floor with no lift but as seniors we found the stair very easy to manage. Great location with lots of restaurants on the doorstep and the flower and fresh fruit market just 1 minute away, which was so handy for buying fresh product and we enjoyed cooking in the apartment in the well equipped kitchen and very romantic dining setting under the beautiful antique low hanging chandelier which reflected beautifully off the mirror top table.
The apartment is elegantly decorated and well laid out with plenty of relaxation space on the two comfy sofas and ideal to spend a few chilly February nights in . We didn't need to use the mezzanine and there was more than adequate for the two of us but a bonus if one person wants some chill out reading space.
Lots of space in the bathroom for both of us and we loved the shower. It was great to have the washing machine facility to wash our clothes as we had been travelling around , we didn't use the outdoor clothes line as the weather was quite cold but availed of the indoor clothes rack and clothes dried quickly with the heating on.
It was also handy for the train station as it was only a few stops away on the tram. The apartment is located in the pedestrian zone of the old town so if taking a taxi you get dropped off at the nearest Palais which is called Palais de justice but it is only a 2 minute walk to the apartment, as it was dark when we arrived we requested that Roni our welcome person to meet us here and walk us to the apartment which was brilliant and welcoming at that time of evening.
We were sad to say goodbye but will return again soon we hope.
This apartment has many good features. The most important is a great location in the middle of Vieux Nice. We rented this apartment for 30 days. We chose it based on the location and the description and photos on the website. Unfortunately we did find that much of the description was misleading or completely false. The website stated that "there is a bio ethanol fireplace which assures warmth and charm even to the chilly winter nights". When we arrived the apartment was very cold as it had been vacant and only one heater works in the living room. The fireplace is only for decoration we were told. The heat did moderate after a while of having the heater on.
The first impression of the apartment is a good one; it does look attractive. However upon further scrutiny we realized the white furniture was extremely filthy. The sofas have been covered with spreads in an effort to conceal all the stains. The white dining room chairs are also heavily stained as is the fabric on the sides of the bed. Not very appetizing. The crystal chandelier mentioned in the website, has been badly damaged and is tied together with a piece of rag.
The internet did work well for us. That was a good thing. The TV did not tune to the regular French channels and the TV was freezing. However the apartment manager did remedy this by having the cable box replaced for us. We appreciated that.
On the second day of our stay the toilet seat and lid broke and completely came off. Here again the apartment manager quickly resolved the problem and had the toilet repaired the same day.
In the website it states that the bedroom has "two built in cupboards". This is misleading. One of the cupboards is actually a cleaning closet that contains cleaning supplies, a non-functioning vacuum cleaner, broom, umbrellas etc. There is a small amount of space available on one of the shelves for a guest to put clothing if you don't mind having your things next to the cleaning supplies. The other cupboard is about 25 cm deep and one winter coat pretty much fills it up. For a long stay there was actually no way to unpack our bags. There is no surface in the bedroom to put a robe or some clothing. A few hooks on the walls could have helped at least a little. A dresser would have been great.
Some extra hooks in the bathroom would also have been helpful. The website described the shower as "stunning extra wide with a separate massage area". Unfortunately the hot water does not allow for enjoyment of anything beyond two very short normal showers. In the bathroom there was also a problem with the washing machine. The door leaks badly and needs to be repaired. The toilet also drips continuously.
The kitchen is well equipped and there are dishes for 4 people. We did enjoy cooking and eating in the apartment.
The mezzanine space mentioned in the website is not a usable space for an adult as even a short person cannot stand upright.
Above features make this a very desirable location to chill out.
Fine restaurants, great local shopping, close to all amenities
Very convenient locale with lovely shower There was room for 4 persons to sleep as there was a loft area. The owner left a well documented review of area sites and restaurants. The Chagall museum and the Rothschild villa are not to be missed!!They also have uber in France,
We stayed for three nights mid September. The apartment is in a convenient and central location in Old Town. Roxanna met us and showed us around the apartment and answered all of our questions before leaving. Small markets are close, however there are grocery stores within walking distance for more selection. Streets are busy during the day and early evening, however very quiet at night and early morning. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Dolce Vita and plan to return!
