Visited La Rochelle as a last minute change of plan. Stayed 4 nights at the Ibis. Absolutely perfect location, right in the port area with bars and restaurants within a minutes walk. Basic room, but with everything we needed and extremely clean. Very friendly, helpful staff. Parking is not included but again a public underground Car park is a minutes walk. It worked out at 9 euro for 24 hours. Definitely be back.

Very attentive reception, and excellent rooms with very controllable air conditioning.Good location just 10 minutes from town centre and harbour. 5 minutes from underground car park at 10€ per 24 hours.
This was our third time at this hotel, and there will be more visits.

The Ibis Viuex Port is perhaps the middle ground in the Ibis range, being a little smarter than the budget but not as stylish as ...the style.
The hotel itself is very clean and smart, rooms are very much the same. They are plenty big enough and are equipped with a television however there are no tea / coffee making facilities. The hotel does provide a 24 hour room service bit this wasnt used so cant comment on the quality.
The staff were all excellent and were very helpful with any of our requests.
Breakfast is available for about €11 and is primarily continental with bread, meats, cheese, cereals, boiled eggs, juices and of course plenty of coffee.
There is a car park at the hotel for €12.50 a night but there are only a few spaces so book early. Parking is available a few hundred yards from the hotel but I cant comment on the cost for this.
The location is excellent for the old town and waterfront areas, with the marina, aquarium and beaches within a short distance.
Taxi from the airport is approx €14
The main rail station is about a 5 minute walk

An enjoyable stay and would have no problem returning.

Centrally located hotel. Maybe 10 minute walk to the train station and then short walk to the port. Great service. Standard Ibis room - nothing fancy but utilitarian. Clean. Comfortable bed. Helped me with my reservations for the Ibis Budget in Bordeaux.

Positives:
- Great location, near transport and old port.
- Super staff: lots of tourists and travelers pass through La Rochelle, sometimes a welcome spirit seems to have faded away. Here all staff were consistently cheerful and welcoming, without being intrusive. Special commendation for the housekeeping staff and front desk personnel.

Otherwise, furnishings are standard Ibis: well maintained and clean, nice bed, otherwise unexceptional: for this traveler, a good place to spend a few nights, but not a destination for a romantic weekend. Breakfast also is standard Ibis. Restaurants abound within walking distance.

Tip for travelers: a lively port town, rooms that open to the street might suffer noise at night. Didn't bother me, and to their credit staff pointed this out on check-in. If you seek a quiet room, as for one on the courtyard.

Another tip: if arriving by train late at night, in this traveler's experience this is one of the top few hotels in terms of accessibility and safety.
