Roel can take up to eight people but the two of us were the only ones that day. An exceptional tour with Roel and his wife. Very knowledgable. Has led tours for 18 years. Had interesting stories about vets who had been on his tours.

The day spent touring the D Day Beaches guided by Roel Klinkhamer was an outstanding highlight for my husband and I of our visit to France. His knowledge and passion for the subject of the beach landings were impressive. Hearing his many backstories brought to life the details of the epic history he led us through, as did his knowledge of the terrain of the beaches and the countryside. Roel kept us moving and thinking the entire day with his vigor and thought-provoking questions. In addition to experiencing Roel's vast knowledge on the subject of the Normandy invasion, he gave us time to reflect and quietly experience the various sites on our own, a good balance. From start to finish he was the ultimate host to this chance-in-a-lifetime experience.

We spent an exceptional day with M. Klinkhamer. His encyclopedic knowledge and enthusiastic delivery kept us enthralled for the entire 7-hour tour. He also has a reverence for the sacrifice of the Allies in coming to France to liberate Europe, and he’s been privileged to host many veterans and their families over the years. You simply will not find a better tour guide for the D-Day experience in Normandy.

Based on all of the reviews we read on Trip Advisor and Rick Steve’s recommendations we booked this tour. It was “advertised” as a van that would take us to the historical sites. Roel was on a medication that did not allow him to drive so his wife was the “chauffeur “. We had a private tour as we were the only one’s on the tour this day. We truly enjoyed learning, and it was an education, about all the happenings on D-day and the planning that went into it. Also the history of everyplace we visited. There were times that we were standing around as Roel would share some pictures or a map and be explaining it to us when someone from what appeared to be a cruise ship tour was “joining” us to listen and look. If you want history and knowledge of these WW ll sites, pick Victory tours. It was just not comfortable hopping out of the back seat of a small coupe to see all the sights.

My husband and I spent 2 days touring the D-Day sites with Roel of Victory Tours, and we enjoyed every minute of it. D-Day was something we did for my husband (he's the WWII buff, not me), but hiring a guide was something we did for me. I was afraid that without a guide, we'd get bogged down in the details (hubby is an engineer) and lose sight of the bigger picture. Roel keeps it human because he has personally connected with the people who were there. Sharing their personal stories, along with showing the sites and reviewing the history, makes all the difference. Hubby and I were both thrilled with our tour, and felt that we'd come away with what we wanted. Highly recommend.
