Our tour was great from start to finish. We were picked up on time by a nice driver in a great car, and driven to Versailles. Lorenzo met us there and was so friendly and informed. He helped save us a ton of time. We barely waited to get inside and then he kept the tour to 2 hours as we had requested! Our driver then drove us back to Paris and offered to drop us wherever we like. I highly recommend Hidden Gems and Lorenzo!

From start to finish, the day was seamless. I booked the all-day Unmissables Tour for our family, which consisted of 9 of us including grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. We appreciated being picked up at our hotel and dropped off directly at Versailles. Lorenzo, our guide met us there, and was wonderful. He had so much knowledge, was very relaxed, patient, and even found us a table to accommodate our group at the restaurant in the garden for lunch. I really appreciated how patient he was with our large group, even when some lagged behind a bit, or were slower walkers, or wanted to take pictures, etc. Really, we could not have asked for more. My family kept saying afterwards how this tour exceeded their expectations and that it was their favorite day of our Paris trip. Our drivers were wonderful too. I would not hesitate to book with Hidden Gems again. Thank you for a wonderful day.

AnnaMaria was our guide whom we hired to meet us at our apartment in Paris and escort us on about a 4 hour journey to, around and from Versailles. AnnaMaria and our lovely driver met us out the front door of my building and within about 25-30 minutes we arrived at Versailles. Everything was perfectly timed as we were able to arrive in time to tour the gardens during the fountain show. Because it was a bit chilly outside, we stopped at the Versailles cafe on the grounds and took a coffee before entering the gardens. We walked all around the gardens on what was a quite sunny day and came back to the palace in time for our palace tour. We had a set time to enter the palace and this was awesome because we were able to enter right in to the palace right around our time. Unfortunately the palace security does not restrict the number of people who can enter the palace at one time and we were shoulder to shoulder in many of the rooms and could not hear our guide or enjoy seeing the inside of the palace. While enjoying the fountain show and music as we walked the gardens was lovely, I believe this is what ultimately drew the crowds. In addition, it's quite disappointing that the palace staff does not restrict the number of visitors entering and leaving. Really everyone should have a set time this way we are all capable of truly enjoying the palace and it's history. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and could tell us much about the palace and the history there. She also seemed to be well invested in Marie Antoinette so while the Palace at Versailles was started by Louis XIV she didn't focus just on his existence/presence there she also focused on the subsequent kings/queens Louis XV, Louis XVI etc that used the palace grounds. I would highly recommend AnnaMaria as your guide as she will tailor the trip to your needs and even work with a driver to pick up and drop you off at your destination. We didn't see Marie Antoinette's estate but she highly recommends it and look forward to perhaps doing a day tour with her in the future which will include this.

Good afternoon Bobbi,

Thank you so much for taking your time to write what you lived with us at Versailles.

We all strive to give our best and provide you a great experience in this amazing place. Anna Maria is a Versailles fan. She is truly nice, sweet and friendly. I am sure that she managed to share her passion & took a great care of you.

Concerning the public administration of Versailles, we all work to explain them how it is important to give a good customer relationship. However, we can't easily turn a public admin (with their strikes, problem of reservations...) which welcomes 7 millions visitors into an efficient private business.

For your info, we always buy the best tickets to the palace. Earlier you book, and better is the choice. At the last minute (less than 10 days before the tour), It can be sold out. This tickets is sold by the palace as a "SKIP THE LINES". Comparing to the general public which can wait up to 2 or 3 hours, it is a great advantage. However, as you mentioned, because the French Public admin is not as accurate as a private business, this skip the line can turn sometimes into a "Short track" instead of a skip the line. At the moment, we have some difficulties to make the public admin aware that they should respect the public that they welcome. We will still work to convince them.

However, our guides know pretty well the agent at Versailles and we most of the times manage to pass quickly... ;-)

But for your next visit to Versailles, if you really wish to make sure to skip the line totally, I advise you to book our "Hidden Doors" tour which semi-privatized the rooms of the palace. It is more expensive but it gives a more exclusive attention. And the admin tends to be extra careful when we semi-privatize the rooms.

I hope that you'll keep in your heart a good memory of you tour to Versailles with Anna-Maria and our driver. Guillaume was on holidays but I am sure that the Mini Van Mercedes went smoothly to Versailles and back to Paris at home in a friendly atmosphere.

Have a great week end,
Best regards,
Xavier Fontanilles

My trip to Paris was 3 weeks ago now, and as people have asked me what my favorite part of the trip was, the trip to Versailles with Lorenzo as our guide is tied for the top of the list.

Versailles is one of those places where you can't grasp the immensity until you're immersed in it, and Lorenzo was the perfect guide to experience it with. He was incredibly knowledgable and friendly, and quickly adapted to our needs, explaining the history and interesting tidbits, but also allowing us to enjoy the beauty, scale, and peace of the palaces and gardens at our own pace.

I'm already thinking about a trip back next year, and plan on booking another tour through Hidden Gems.

Lorenzo took us on a full-day guided tour of Versailles, the Trianon, the Petit Trianon, and the Hamlet of Marie Antoinette. From the moment you are picked up at your hotel, until you are returned late in the afternoon, you are entertained and educated by a guide who knows his history, including the most fascinating parts of the everyday life of the people who built and inhabited these beautiful palaces. I would recommend the full day tour, because the smaller palaces and the Hamlet will wow you just as much as the palace itself. We did several private tours in Europe, and this was the best because of the guide quality and knowledge. Frankly, I don't know how they do it for a whole day. Being picked up and returned to Paris in a beautiful car compliments the experience, and let's you relax and get to know the guide before you get started. Merci!
