My husband and I were just walking near our hotel which is also near at Gare Montparnasse when we happen to pass by this great church. This is a 19th century church which has a lot of murals, statues and paintings. The lady in-charge of the exhibit and bookstore during the time we visited was very accommodating. This is a nice place to pray and for non-Catholics, a nice historical place to visit.

My companion's mother attended this church which is almost 150 years old.

It has been a holy site for over 2,000 years, once home to a temple honoring Mars.

The reviews below are great. I just want to add my voice to the list, saying that this church has great history, has a good "parish life", and its doors are open to all. Do drop in.

Miz Bubblechucks was raised right and so she likes to go to Church on Sundays. This lovely Church was just a short walk away from our hotel in Montparnasse. Website: http://www.paroisse-ndc.com for the times of Holy Mass and so on. Monsieur le Curé is Père Antoine D'Eudeville, who celebrated Mass when we attended. A very fine Priest.

This area is full of history. The Church is built on the site of a temple dedicated to the Roman god Mercury. It later became a Benedictine Priory and subsequently was taken over by Carmelites. During the French Revolution, the convent was closed and no trace of it remains. However, in 1858, the Parish of Notre-Dame des Champs was created. Nearly 10 years later, the building of the present Church began.

It is a lovely Church inside. Everyone seems very friendly and there were a number of young people when we attended.
