After having our luggage stolen on the RER, we needed some wine and nourishment. We had eaten here 2 years ago, and it was close to our hotel. I never thought I would be happy paying 80 euros for onion soup, chicken Caesar salad and wine, but it hit the spot. Servive was very good and onion soup delicious

This restaurant was just down the street from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try on a night we felt like having a casual relaxed dinner. Things started off ok, as we were quickly greeted and the seated, in what appeared to be the "American" section, as all the other tables surrounding us were from the US. Not what we were looking for, but it was fine, thinking they wanted to give us a server who perhaps spoke some English. We ordered drinks and then reviewed the menu. Here is where things got a little messy. We ordered 2 starters from our waiter and were still looking at the menu for dinner. We then had 2 other people from the restaurant take the rest of our order, waiter refused to come back over. He did seem a little befuddled(giving us bread when the table next to us ordered it, not clearing the table, etc), so we thought maybe he was in the weeds. Anyway, the second starter never showed up and it looked like they were getting ready to serve our dinners. When questioned about the second starter, we were told we did not order it. Then one of the other waiters who took part of our order, came over to say we did not order it from him ( which was true, we ordered it from the original waiter). We were told our entrees were ready, but we refused them pending our second starter. Overall, food was pricey for what it was and I don't think arguing with guests is a good way to run a restaurant. There are so many better options in Paris, this seemed like a tale of 2 restaurants, depending on whether or not you were a local. Skip it.

Went to this newly refurbished brasserie ( it was redone exactly as it was) today. A table had been booked by friends and it was located near the terrace. The weather was very pleasant. The 42 Euro menu was nothing to write home about. One of us chose à la carte. He had onion soup (so-so he said) and an entrecôte he ordered medium read but came well-done and had to be sent back which was done without a word of apology. It came back a little later properly done. Again no apology or anything. The gratin dauphinois that came with it was not tasty. It had been reheated and was a bit dry. The rest of us were satisfied with but not enthusiastic about their food.the baba au rhum didn't taste great despite being soaked with the amber liquid.
Service was at first very friendly, too friendly perhaps, but that waiter disappeared after the entrecôte incident. The other one, an old timer, managed to utter a few words when he brought dessert. The ice cream ordered by the friend who had ordered the entrecôte came after the other three had already got their desserts: coincidence? Let's not read too much into that.
On the whole, a bit disappointing. It may have to do with the fact that food in those brasseries is prepared outside and delivered vacuum wrapped or boxed and so one shouldn't expect too much. However for such a price one could hope better treatment. However, service could have been better. An apology can go a long way.

Classic brasserie in Montparnasse. As noted elsewhere, popular with locals and returning tourists - saw evidence if both. Good food options with reasonable prix fixe menu. Agreeable service. It was full on a Saturday evening. I wouldn't rave but certainly good enough that I'd come back.

I had dinner at Rotonde while attending a conference in a hotel nearby, following a recommendation from the concierge. I did not have a reservation, but was seated right away in a very comfortable table. I had oysters and steak tartar, and two cups of the house red. The place is not cheap but the food is extraordinary. The servers where nice and I followed their suggestions. I would like to come again with my wife next time.
