The apt Marais Saintonge is in a good location. But the kitchen had no light, the general lighting of the apt was very poor and consisted of only stand up lamps with shades. You would go blind trying to read a map or map out an itinerary . Although there are beams on the living room ceiling it is very easy to put some spots in between the beams or some tracks. The fact that there are old beams is not an excuse NOT to provide good general lighting. The bathroom was not adequate, it didn't even have a plug , so if you want to dry your hair you would have to stand in one of the rooms to do it. I think this place need a good electrician to add lighting to all of the rooms and some plugs. We had to use a flashlight in the kitchen in order to turn on the two small electric burners to make tea. No this is not adequate nor appropriate especially when I paid over $225 per night. But the best part is that they charged me euros 600 for a security deposit when the poor furnishing of the place was not even worth that much except maybe for the oriental carpet. Of course they returned the security deposit, but did it reallyh have to be that high.?
The two ladies from the agency who take care of the apt Julie and
Stephanie were nice, when I showed Stephany that there was no light in the kitchen, she took off a tiny minuscule light from under the kitchen counter which was burnt out...and told me she would change it. But that tiny light was certainly not adequate nor sufficeint lighting. The furnishing was modest and the beds were comfortable but very simple, not even nice bed covers? And of course again the bedrooms had not ceiling lights!
I suggest that the owner stay in the unit for a few days and get a good electrician in there.
