We found this restaurant while looking for another. The service was both charming and efficient (the waiters spoke English with us). The food was excellent. We had the beef carpaccio and the beef tartare and they were both perfect dishes on a hot summers day. The desserts were also good; I had the best creme brûlée I think I have ever tasted. Loved it!

We ended up here by mistake, thinking it was the ‘other’ Poule au Pot recently reopened by celebrity chef Jean-François Piège. Simple bistro with a short menu of mainly easy-to-prepare dishes. Their signature Poule au Pot (a homey, French farm dish) is no longer on the menu, but they will serve it to you on special request; it’s hearty and pretty good - worth ordering. Avoid the bavette steak (different from the entrecôte), it’s just a chewy, very tough hunk of meat! Service is not great but adequate, even from the somewhat cavalier owner. Prices are high for the quality, given that we are in the posh Invalides area. Don’t make a special trip to come here; in fact there must be many better bistros/restaurants nearby.

This marvelous French restaurant is perfect in every way. Great service, food, wine and ambiance. Prices are fair and not extravagant with indoor/outdoor tables. Great bar as well. We'll be back for another anniversary celebration. English speaking, of course. Share the meals, portions are generous.

We were traversing Rue de l'university on the way from Invalides to the Quai Branley when it started snowing. Through the swirling white we made out the softly glowing golden light from the windows of this homely restaurant... warmth and comfort food was what we needed. No Michelin stars, no celebrity chef, no cuisine minceur. The simple signature dish is all in the name: chicken in a pot. A whole poussin (small chicken) slow cooked with white wine, garlic and herbs and served in a burnished copper pot. What more do you need on a winter's day? Well, some simple root vegetables, a glass or two of excellent wine and a fire. I haven't looked at the rest of the menu or been back in summer, but La poule au pot is inscrit sur ma coeur.
