We have just returned home from our stay at this apartment and it was a dream. The apartment is located about five minutes from the metro line 9. It was very easy to commute to many of the neighborhoods we wanted to visit without transferring from the metro to the RER (we just purchased a booklet of T+ passes). The building is located on a safe street in a secure building with friendly neighbors who hold open doors say good morning and good evening. A good mix of 30-somethings, young families and professionals. The inside of the building is quiet, very clean and welcoming.
We did not meet the owner while we were there. My experiences with the owner were via email. She answered my inquiries very quickly, we had a contract and everything advertised was delivered. No hidden fees, no extra taxes, no charges for linens, two sets of keys, etc. When we arrived we were greeted by a lady named Ann-Marie. She was very kind, prompt, professional and patient. I studied French for one year and finished two of five Rosetta Stone units. It was enough French for us to communicate rather clearly from my perspective. I’m sure the pacing was a bit slow but she was so kind she was always smiling and never seemed frustrated with my mediocre French. =) She showed us how to gain access past security, where to take out trash and recycling, where all of the appliances were in the apartment, and there was even a courtesy binder with instructions for all of the appliances and comforts (iron, dishwasher, washing machine, cable TV, internet password) provided by the owner in several languages. It made us feel so comfortable so far away from everything that was familiar. We gave Ann-Marie the cash deposit and it was returned with no trouble at the end of our stay.
Initially the selling point of the apartment was the view. It was magnificent and exactly what was advertised. The skyline spoiled us. We didn’t look up at the moon for a week and a half; we looked at views of the Paris skyline with a crisp clean view of many recognizable places like the Sacré-Coeur and the Eiffel tower.
The actual apartment was quite roomy. There were three living spaces in this studio: a hallway with storage on the left and the bathroom on the right, the actual living room with full-length window/balcony doors and a kitchen/dining room that wasn’t separated by a wall. There was a fully equipped kitchen down to the lemon squeezer. We purchased all of our groceries from the Carrefour and G-20, seconds away and dined on fresh baked bread every day. We rented the apartment for nine days so we spent a sizeable amount of time there. It we definitely well maintained. As for the décor, the wall art is a mix of modern and Asian influence. The sinks are fancy and it took us a good couple of minutes to figure out how to turn the bathroom sink on. There is a shower, no tub. The dishwasher is quiet but we would recommend running the washing machine in the day. There did happen to be some construction going on in the middle of the day. Most days we didn’t wake up until 11am. But I think we needed to get up anyway =P No big deal. All In all I highly recommend working with the owner and Ann-Marie. We had a really positive experience and based on our pictures we hope to refer them more business.
