Location
Good location, primarily a residential area. Just a 5-minute walk from the Censier Daubenton metro station and a 2 minute walk from Rue Mouffetard, hosting many restaurants. The area in and around the hotel has a number of eating joints and cafes in different budgets. So commute and food are not a problem with this hotel location.

Room
The lift stops between two floors so all rooms have to be reached by either climbing or descending approx. 5 stairs.
We took a triple room with an extra bed, pretty good space despite that for 3 persons. All basic amenities in the room worked just perfectly. The bed for two also had a canopy, which takes you back in time and gives a very good feeling. The air conditioning worked very well and was needed since it was really hot in Paris.

Breakfast
This hotel does not serve a buffet breakfast as in other hotels. If breakfast is included in your tariff, you can choose between a fixed number of items – ham, bread, croissants, cereals, juices, fruit yogurt, coffee/tea. The breakfast is served to each individual table based on your choice. The quality of the items is good and each item can be ordered multiple times.

Service
Very good service with very courteous staff. They had the room ready and prepared at check in. On checkout, the elevator was not functioning due to heavy rains, but the person at the reception was really helpful in assisting with our luggage. The ladies at breakfast were extremely courteous and served everything within minutes with a smile.

Great location, very close to the subway station and also close to the famous Mouffetard street! Very good front desk staff, speaking English very well. Special highlight for the girl who cleaned the rooms and was always good humored. Very good for a 2 star hotel.

Unfortunately the room (44) does not have so good sound insulation, and you can hear noises from the doors of next room and also from people chatting.

Room Tip: Unfortunately the room (44) does not have so good sound insulation.

Dear Carlos,

Thank you so much for your nice review. We are aware of the bad sound insulation. The hotel was bought by a new owner and we are planning to do some restoration. Especially the isolations of the rooms.

We hope to see you again for your next trip to Paris

Kind regards

Madeleine / Guest relations

I first stayed at Hotel de l'Esperance in 2013 when I visited Paris with my niece and sister in law. My husband and I decided to stay here this April when we took a trip to France. We spent 4 nights. The neighborhood is safe and there are many places to eat nearby. Another plus is having the markets on Mouffetard right up the street. There are nearby bus and metro stations to help you get to anywhere you want to in Paris. There is also a Starbucks nearby if you'd like a change from the traditional cafe. The rooms are small as are most hotel rooms in Paris. The staff keep the rooms clean. I would have given the hotel a excellent rating but was put off by the person who checked us out who seemed irritated as us and not very friendly. Even with that said I would stay here again and recommend that you do too.

Small, but nice clean room, bed and bathroom/shower worked good.
Kind service in the reception.
Internet connection was really bad in our room (room 26) and there were quite some noise from doors etc. outside the room.
We didn’t try the breakfast, as it was not included, but visited different bakeries and cafees in the neighborhood (between 8 and 20 EUR for 2 persons).
We loved the area and local atmosphere - nice access to metro (Censier - Daubenton), small market (Rue Mouffetard), bakeries, cafees and restaurants. Also enjoyed to sit in the sun at a bench at the Saint Médard church.

Contacted the hotel to organise having a bottle of wine in room upon my daughter's arrival. This was all last minute on my part but the hotel dealt with my request immediately. Much appreciated.
Daughter & friend stayed at hotel for a long weekend. They found the hotel warm, cosy and in a great area.
I hope to visit the hotel myself one day!
