Description: CHez Margot is a very typical french bistro with a real gourmet kitchen. Famous bistro recipes and specialized in FRENCH beef very tasty. Everything is homemade, sauce, pastries etc...plus own creations. A beautiful terrasse, heated and covered in winter. Located in front of "THE REPUBLICAN GUARD" with the show of horses coming in and out during the day. With an effective and smily service, CHEZ MARGOT became a reference in "the marais" it's a neighborhood restaurant.

A nice couple own it and the food was very nice- I liked the roasted chicken in gravy and mashed potatoes very much. But it was hard to get service and when I did get it, I got some attitude. This was a bit strange since we had come with a " regular" and they were delighted to see her. It may be that the American expectation of the timing of the bill does not suit them- but still.. In any case, I thought the food was very nice and would try it again.

After taking our order with a few friends the manager had a horrible behavior towards us. He refused to serve us more water, and on top of all asked us to leave because we are « young adults » and we are apparently the kind of people who ruin his business.
I would advise you not to go to this specific restaurant even for a coffee. There are a lot of other lovely restaurants around.

Was in this restaurant for a coffee in the afternoon and I am appalled by the waiter’s behaviour. He is shockingly rude and refuses young adults from entering his coffee shop. Moreover he denies customers the right to have second glass of water and not to consume anything despite laws stipulating that this is a right in France. Never put a foot in this shop, there are other lovely coffee shops very near.

On a main boulevard in the Marais, a tidy, somewhat small with a good size retaurant, covered oudoor area.
Smoking outside, as is now common in the city. We ate inside, dinner.

A seafood rissoto for me and a grilled fish for the OP. Both excellent, with typical, unobstrusive service. Nice wine. Many locals, not many tourists I could spot. Would recommend.

Our hotel recommended us to stop at this nice looking restaurant near le Marais. We ordered frog legs, a plate of cured meat, a prawn risotto and a lamb shank. Surprisingly, none of those dishes were good. The frog legs were swimming in cooking oil, the cured meat platter is a disgrace for all the French farmers, the prawn risotto was tasteless and the lamb shank came with so much gravy sauce that this dish should be called "Gravy sauce with lamb shank".

Nothing to say on the service but the food is to be avoided unless you are looking for an overdose of fat and oil.
