Traveling with a group of 5 friends on a 2 week trip around Europe, we stayed in Steve's home for 4 days. What an incredible home! Perfectly located near a metro stop (55 steps from the front door) in the Montparnasse area, we were able to see all the sights in Paris. Shopping and restaurants are close by. You will need for nothing as the house is well appointed with amenities. It was very quiet and we all able to spread out and relax during our stay. I would definitely recommend this home and hope that I am able to return again soon.
We were very impressed as soon as we arrived. Steve was very friendly and very helpful from the day we made our reservation to the day we departed. It was beautiful, we fell in love with the place immediately. Nice neighborhood, good location, very close to a metro station, many restaurants, grocery, bakery all within 5 - 10 minute walk. Its as nice as the pictures look, very large windows allowing plenty of light, very comfortable and picturesque. We would definitely stay here again and hope to in the near future!
I took my family of 5 to Paris in May, 2015 for a week's vacation to celebrate our middle daughter's graduation from college. It is next to impossible to find hotels at a reasonable price for a family of five but Chez Picasso was very reasonably priced and perfectly located, within walking distance of Montmartre and the Luxembourg gardens, with the added advantage of having a Metro stop just steps away from the front door. For those looking for an authentic Parisian home with all of the modern amenities, look no further.
We booked this wonderful townhouse with Steve for a group shooting a video project on the French New Wave. At the very end of A bout de soufflé (Breathless) Belmondo runs down the Rue de Campagne-Premiere and you can see the property in the shot. On that same street, there are sites of tremendous significance not only in the New Wave but also before that in the 20s and in the Surrealist movement. You are a stones throw from the Montparnasse Cemetery, from Denfert-Rocherau, from all the creperies and cafes of Montparnasse, from so many things--and the Raspail metro is literally right outside your door. It's a great station because it's relatively small yet has 2 lines running through, the 6 and the 4.
So for us it was the best location.
Inside, it's lovely, unique, a kind of rambling warmth and artistic flair abounds. If you want a soulless sanitized boring place, go elsewhere. Steve's house is all soul. One night we opened the French doors facing Blvd Raspail and ate semi-al-fresco at the big trestle table whilst people watching and felt like we had our own street cafe. The kitchen is smallish (but not by Paris standards) but charmante and we had plenty of resources there to cook in a few times. Most nights we gathered in the big living room--piano, books, comfy sofas--to look over our day's work. I slept in another flat since we had a big group, so I can't speak to the bedrooms, but everyone said they were fine. I would have claimed the one downstairs off the living room, the studiom with view of the garden.
This place is a dream. Steve was lovely to us. Highly recommended. We will be back!
What a fantastic place to stay in!!
We were travelling Europe with our kids (13 and 9) - Paris was the penultimate leg on the tour. we found Chez Picasso online and loved the look of it. I have to say - in person, this place is one hundred times better than what the pictures show. Each and every room is unique and you can feel the love and care with which it was put together. The space is super large - which is fantastic for a family with kids...as many know, hotel rooms in Paris are tiny. We had 6 people here - from a cost perspective, you come out better than trying to have 3 hotel rooms...or even two!!
The location is great -- there's a subway station right next to it. we love walking -- and if you do, then most attractions are a couple miles of lovely walks away. there are a nunber of restaurants and grocery stores close by - so it makes it easier.
Lastly - Steve is a fantastic host. he was super prompt when we were trying to book the place....took time from his schedule to give us not just the tour of the house when we got there but also explained how to get around in the neighbourhood, where his favorite eating places were, and so on.
I would absolutely stay there the next time we take the family to Paris.
