“Spectacular place to stay”

I just returned from a wonderful stay at Steve's place in Montparnasse. We were two couples with our children (three teens, 13, 115, 17). Not only is this home a stunning visual treat, it is in a great location with cafes, markets (the Rue Daguerre close by is just excellent for everything), metro, Luxembourg Gardens, all nearby. The area is not congested, unlike other more touristy areas that I've stayed in before, yet is bustling with life. Steve's apartment is on two floors and is a magnificently spacious and airy. The art and artefacts create such a rich ambience and there's a grand piano which was fun to play. There is plently of space for lounging - two sitting areas in fact, and a lovely dining area with french windows that open to allow a delightful breeze, and a great working kitchen in which we cooked meals with luscious produce from either Rue Daguerre or the Wednesday morning market around the corner on Edgar Quinet Blvd. The bedrooms are lovely and the beds very comfortable and the linens crisp. Steve is extremely charming and knowledgeable and is very generous. Would I recommend this place to friends? I already have as they've seen my facebook pictures and demanded to know the details. I'd return in a heart beat. Truly the best vacation rental ever.

Our party of 7 stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. There is lots of room for everyone and the very near Metro station of Raspail makes it so convenient to get around Paris. I highly recommend it

...all rolled in to one!! What a fantastic property - we were a group of 6 and there is nothing negative any of us could say. It is spacious, light and we really felt that we were living in a true Parisian home. The review below pretty much sums up the facilities and layout. Steve made us feel very welcome and the house really did feel like it was our home for the week - no-one was worried about "touching" all the wonderfully interesting collections that Steve has built. The location is amazing - literally 1 minute from the Metro, about a 20 minute walk from Musee d'Orsay and a great selection of restaurants and bistros near and around the villa. We all adored the property and would love to return in the future. Merci beaucoup Steve pour ton grande hospitalitie!!

“The antithesis of an anonymous hotel room. Perfect if you want to "be" in Paris.”

I'm fighting the temptation to try and keep Villa Picasso a secret, but the fact that Steve deserves a glowing reference for this place has won out.

All the practicalities worked for us. Booking was straight forward, Steve was helpful at every step. The location is fantastic. If you arrive on the Eurostar, you can travel direct on the M4 line straight to Raspail metro station which is literally a few steps from the front door of the apartment. Connections are great for all the main tourist sites. Locally, there is a huge selection of food shops from artisan bakeries, specialist pasta, cheese and fish shops as well as supermarkets.
It's an easy walk to the Jardins de Luxembourg and the Paris catacombs are just up the road.
The area feels safe and authentic.
Steve was at the apartment to meet us and gave us a comprehensive tour of the property and helpful advice about places to shop and eat.
I hadn't quite understood the layout from the website. There are 2 double bedrooms upstairs (one of which has an ensuite shower room). Downstairs, the master bedroom is separated from the piano room by huge folding doors and the piano room itself contains a double sofa bed. The overall feeling is one of light and space.

There are some comments in other reviews about the kitchen needing to be modernised. We thought it was charming. If you want a modern kitchen with boring fitted units don't stay here. Everything you might want to find is there and probably in the same place you keep it in your own kitchen, there are some idiosyncrasies, but it is an authentic French kitchen and it feels like being at home.

The apartment is full of fascinating "things" - collections of tins, little boxes with surprising contents, books, music, other stuff that you look at and think "well, what is that?" You don't need to bring anything with you ( apart from maybe an apple USB adaptor to make use of the printer,). All of the things you'd find at home are there - there's even shoe polish under the stairs! There is a TV, but we didn't put it on once.

The beds were clean and comfortable, the house was warm, the water was hot and there were 3 hair dryers, so no arguments in the mornings! Steve provides 4 sets of keys, which we really appreciated as it meant we could go out independently. At the end of our stay, leaving was straightforward and the deposit was back in my account before I got home. That's the practicalities dealt with, but it tells you nothing about how it feels to stay in Villa Picasso, so what follows is part of an email I sent to Steve thanking him for making this wonderful home available to us.

"So, it has just been me and my 2 girls in Villa Picasso and it has been a balm. The light, space and tranquility so good for the soul and has given me some much needed breathing space.

As someone who loves to surround themselves with books and music I am in heaven. My only complaint is that our stay is too brief. In a different life, a month or so of walking every morning to the boulangerie and afternoons of reading and playing the piano or perhaps strolling in the Jardins de Luxembourg would be just the tonic I need. Sadly that will need to stay in the realms of fantasy, but I can't thank you enough for trusting us with this home. It's wonderful."

Thank you, Steve, and hopefully, à bientôt!

“Great Family Trip to Paris”

Steve's place is great and his Restaurant suggestions were perfect. His villa is in the heart of the City, but it has the feel of a home. Less than 50 steps to Metro. 15 minutes to every major attraction in Paris. Easy walk to Latin Quarter, Lux Gardens, Notre Dame, Catacombs, Montparnase Towers and great places to eat. The Farmers Market on Saturday is wonderful and full of local flare. Sunday's artist market is also nice. The Villa itself has a personality of it's own and was the perfect spot for our family of 5. The property has three full bedrooms with queen beds and a very comfortable pull out sofa in the great room. My son loved staying in the large room with Piano and the large window overlooking Raspail. Steve was an excellent host and met us at the door and provided a full tour of the property. Steve has conversion plugs and hair dryers so leave yours at home. We had an excellent stay and will be back. Thanks again Steve!!!!!
