Buffet à volonté at B.O.U.L.O.M (boulangerie where you eat). The restaurant offers a unique concept in Paris. 19.00€ for 35 minutes lunch or 29.00€ for stay as much as you want. Enjoy a large buffet of delicious selection of food.
b.o.u.l.o.m opened just a month ago and it is already a huge success in Paris! No reservations only walk-in

We live a stone's throw from BOULOM, which has taken the place of the old Chez Frezet, and we popped in last night to try it out. The front of the establishment is a small boulangerie serving modern takes on the usual croissant classics and patisserie favorites. When you pass through the boulangerie to the restaurant, you find a modern dining room freshly tiled in green with dark touches to offset, and you're immediately struck by two things not usually seen in a French restaurant: a buffet bar and enormous common tables, carved out of single pieces of wood. Right away, you know you're in for something different. French cuisine infamously doesn't embrace "different"; it usually fears it, fights it, then resents it for a couple of generations.
The owner and chef, Julien Duboué, has already established his credentials with A.Noste and he has brought his emphasis on fresh food and modern interpretations of French classics to BOULOM. Once you get over the shock of seeing the buffet and focus on the dishes, you soon appreciate the restaurant for the food itself.
The buffet station in the center of the sky-light covered dining area provides a wide range of entrées, from fresh oysters and prawns to fire-roasted pork you carve yourself using a handle-cranked butcher's slicing machine. There are salads and other small plate items, including wonderfully-herbed salmon slices. Stepping over to the kitchen counter, you confront an array of marvelous hot dishes, including (at least last night) country-style duck that has stewed for seven hours, tagine of merguez-style sausage and chicken, boeuf bourguignon, whole fish based in a thick bread crust, roast chicken, and enormous grilled vegetables (and more). We tried nearly everything and it was all perfectly-prepared and delicious.
Literally it was as if you were looking at a French restaurant menu and had the choice of trying everything on it. There were any number of magnificent dessert items too, including a serve-yourself profiterole station, but we hadn't imagined we would devour as much as we did, and we had to demure or risk food coma.
I would say the food is four stars (although close to five) but the extra star is simply for the owner being courageous in adopting and adapting the buffet to his own ends and doing it tremendously well. It cost 39 euros for each adult but only 6 euros for each child; this is really quite amazing value for the quality of the food.
Check it out before the BoBo hordes descend and the place develops a queue.
