The duck with cherries was a hit at our table as was the Parisian hamburger. The desserts and wine also hit the spot. Our server was kind, patient and humorous and went above and beyond the call of duty. We wish him well studying literature in Connecticut next year. The tenor sax in the next room was truly impressive.

On Thursday evenings this bistrot in the south of Paris and in a quiet residential area serves decent food and has a band playing jazz... lovely evening, perfect for a small group of friends. Small terrace on the pavement, most of the tables are inside. You can also listen to the music having a drink at the small bar.

Thursday evenings features jazz at Le Laurier. That was enought to draw us to this wonderful little restaurant in the heart of the 14th. It turned out that the food was on par with the music. We started with an entree of foie gras with slices of duck that were sautéed. I then had a rack of pork ribs that were roasted quite nicely (being a bbq person myself I was a little skeptical but all was good). My wife had shoulder of lamb that was very flavorful and done quite pink. We finished off with a selection of creme brûlées that were just wonderful. Almost upstaging this excellent meal was the music. Two guitarists, one on a mic'd acoustic and the other on an electric played classic french jazz reminiscent of Django Reinhard and they played it very well. All in all this was a really great evening. Loved every minute, every note and every bite of it. Well done! And btw, we walked out at under 100 euro total.

Great place where you can eat well for not expensive. You should take their "Cheese/ Charcuterie", it was wonderful !!! Their salads are huge too!

I come back there sometimes, and I usually don't do this.
