Great simple food. Patron gave us his phone to watch the Word Cup (classier than it sounds) and good wines. Home made tarte aux pommes was a highl light, beaten only by the baked Camembert.

If you visit the beautiful city of Troyes in central France, do NOT miss having dinner at Le Clef de Voute on one of the major pedestrian concourses. The food is traditional (escargots, magret de canard, bavette de boeuf) and the welcome was even better. We cannot say enough about our host and his efforts to make our evening a time we'll treasure for years to come.

We enjoyed our meal here. The menu includes some Savoyard dishes such as tartiflette and raclette. The tarte aux pommes and tarte aux myrtilles were particularly good. Service friendly and efficient. We ate outside and were able to enjoy the medieval architecture in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than if we'd eaten in the main tourist street.

Made the mistake of accepting a table inside on a warm evening when outside tables were full. It was as if we became invisible - 20 minutes before our order was taken (even for drinks) and 10 more for the drinks to arrive. And service for us was poorer even than for the few others inside - we did speak French but not like natives - began to wonder if there was a bias in the service . . .
Food, when it came, was very good - my husband had a tasty tartiflette which came with salad and I had a huge salad Savoyard. We were promised bread but had to ask again.
Took far too long to try any desserts!
