“Perfect location idyllic and peaceful , the owners couldn't have been more hospitable.”
Reviewed 8 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Jenny was very helpful with her advice and we loved the extras such as wine and raspberry tarts! The house was very comfortable It was just a short hop to use the pool which was next door. The kitchen was very well equipped. The river view was very relaxing we enjoyed hearing the birds and fish using it. Would recommend holiday for anyone wanting to get away from it all. Thank you Jenny it was a brilliant stay!

“You really don't need to bring anything but yourselves and, of course, your cossie!”
Reviewed 19 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This house really is an home from home with everything provided that you would need on your holiday, from a fully equipped kitchen with all the utensils you would ever need, an huge range cooker, microwave and dishwasher through to a brand new washing machine.
It has two bathrooms with the one downstairs being invaluable if you have small children.
The 3 bedrooms are generous in size with loads of space for clothes and have very comfortable beds.
The front terrace is literally overlooking the Dordogne and we never tired of eating out there morning, noon and night! The road is a dead end so only visitors' cars ever passed by.
Yes, the pool is in the back garden of the owners' house next door but you really do have exclusive use throughout the day. This would be more problematic if you had non-swimmers as you can't see them from the rental property.
The owners were always very discreet but on hand should we have questions. They are very knowledgeable about the area, restaurant and market recommendations and things to do.
If you're looking for a fancy chateau, this is not it! It's a typical French house equipped with everything you need for an hassle-free holiday. And they even welcomed our very boisterous puppy.

“Brilliant, the house has everything you could wish for in a holiday home.”
Reviewed 4 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We arrived very late evening to a great welcome from Jenny and Peter. The welcome pack was comprehensive and generous with lovely local produce. The whole house is spacious and comfortable and is full of character. The kitchen is very well equipped with every conceivable implement to hand. The patio area is furnished with table and chairs and from here we enjoyed watching the swans, herons and buzzards and just taking in the views of the river. The pool and pool area is very well looked after and gets full sun all day long if you want to top up your suntan. We couldn't find fault with anything.
We were visiting the area for a family wedding at Chateau Soulac and would strongly recommend this property to future wedding guests as it is less than 10 minutes from the venue. Loved it!

“Beautiful pool, perfectly equipped house, kindest hosts, fabulous location - cannot fault it”
Reviewed 5 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We have stayed twice at Les Sommieres - in 2012 and again this year with two teenage girls who spend most of the day poolside. The pool is glorious - heated so even on a cloudy day you can stay in for hours. If a change of scene is needed, the Dordogne is onthe doorstep. Throw open the shutters in the morning to the sun on the river and two swans on the far bank. Lovely evening walks along the river before supper which we ate outdoors watching the river flow by; in the day canoeing from the village and bathing from any number of spots nearby. Lovely and quiet but plenty of nearby market towns and sights. Jenny and Peter are next door if you need them and could not be kinder - they think of everything (give you a great starter pack) and nothing is too much trouble. Their sweet dog Hooli added to the general joy.

“Beautiful tranquil spot with lovely towns nearby”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a really relaxing stay. The house is charming with beautiful views over the river, a nice big garden at the back (perfect for kids to play) and a fantastic swimming pool to use next door. The owners are lovely - friendly and helpful (they borrowed toys for our children to play with and gave us great restaurant and vineyard recommendations!). Lots of pretty villages and towns nearby and great markets - the area is a foodie's heaven. We will definitely be back!
