Owner description: The charitable aims of the Victoria Cross Trust who own the museum, fall into 2 main categories, firstly to restore the final resting places of VC recipients not in the care of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Secondly to educate the public as their lives and citation details ( why they were awarded a VC). The creation of a museum meets our second charitable aim and income from the museum will cover the first.

What a surprise! We didn’t expect a quarter of what we saw. Steve took us round the collection/Museum (about 15 including couple of children). The whole story of the recipients of the Victoria Cross was laid out from the first to the last, including all the local ones.

Well worth a visit and should be on every schools curriculum.

A guided tour of British Military history from World War I to the present day, with emphasis on the heroism and sacrifice of those members of the armed forces who have been awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry in the face of the enemy. The excellent guided tour by volunteer and ex-Infantryman Steve was informative, interesting and thought-provoking. Large and well-displayed exhibits and a lot of interactive hands-on demonstration of kit and weaponry. The tour took about two and a half hours but was interesting throughout. will definitely be back with our grandchildren - this is something that is suitable for all generations and a history that needs to be told and re-told and never forgotten.

What can I say this is such a truly fantastic place to visit .

Where else can you visit for amazing food educational conversion and sights and interaction like you get at ashworth barracks.

Arrived today for the dog show and open hatch day with tours taking place around the museum it's self I can not think of any other place where you can see the vehicles running driving around (in the car park) where you are then able to get hands on get inside look at everything and ask questions to the people that used to operate these on a day to day basis.

To hear these exhibitions running is amazing.

Well done to ashworth for allowing this to happen.

Everyone should go along and visit this place a true tribute to all our military personnel old young and forgotten I commend you all.

An excellent, informative, great value place to visit. The tours are done by ex military personnel whose passion for the place shines through. The whole museum is so well set out and there’s plenty to see and be involved in. Would recommend it to anyone.
