Only stopped for one night and they were in the middle of a refurbishment. The room was perfect and extremely well done, the shower room /toilet was fantastic, the beds comfortable, the room spacious. The breakfast was good but it would have been better if we hadn't had to eat breakfast off paper plates. I'm sure that this will change as soon as the renovations are finished

Many thanks for your review, was a pleasure to read. You're absolutely right, everything will be back to normal once the refurbishment has been completed.

Look forward to seeing you again soon.

- We stayed for one night on the 4th of November
- Entrance was under construction, poorly directed route round to the side door, through fire exit.
- Reception, botch job reception, cramped under the staircase and to the side of what was assumed to be the planned reception.
- Whilst the receptionist was quite friendly, she did not comment on the construction work at all. Later, we decided to check the website and their socials after this – no mention anywhere.
- She did explain that breakfast would be between 8-10:30 (actually ending at 11). She did not ask if we had a car, so we asked about how the car park worked and she gave us our ticket (valid until 11am the next day).
- One of the two lifts wasn’t working.
- Our room on the sixth floor was clean and tidy, and appeared as pictured. We tried to use the telephone to contact reception a few consecutive times, without realising that the desk had been able to hear us but we had not been able to hear them. Kudos to the attendant who came to our room to see what we had wanted. We then told her that the phone mustn’t have been working, as we couldn’t hear her. Nothing more was ever said on the matter.
- Later that evening, we decided to try the hotel bar. Nothing had been said about the bar being closed (or non-existent), however, so when we went downstairs and asked if the bar was open, when the receptionist responded with “You order with us and we bring the drinks to you” we were a little confused. We asked where we could sit and they said ‘through there’ and ushered towards to construction region 2. (pictured).
- The room she was referring to was a strange small hall, with a handful of tables and chairs. There was a big space in the middle with plastic sheeting over the carpet rug (protecting from the construction dust we were presumably getting free with our food and oxygen?)
- The only usable toilet in the public area was the ladies, which was sandwiched between two more (smaller) construction regions.
- In the morning was went to breakfast at about 9.30am. The room was depressing and awkward. Obviously Holiday Inn has worked out that paper plates are cost effective AND totally non-eco friendly, so has decided to go with them. That, or they don’t have a dishwasher.
- The cooked food options were: sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans - served with a spoon with holes in it, meaning there was sauce literally everywhere. Mmm, sticky.
- The sausages were obviously bad and the eggs tasteless and rubbery.
- They did serve little individual Nutella things.
- The highlight would have to be the bowl of mysterious brown liquid on a waitress station in the tiny hallway/entranceway. Lumpy and vomit inducing. (picutured).
- Overall, literally nothing like the pictures and a big let down.

Many thanks for taking the time to write this very detailed review! I would like to first and foremost point a few things out and clear up what has been written here. We are currently going through renovation works which is due to finish this week, we do have the announcement on our website, if our guests are not happy to stay here they have the option to book another hotel. If they did not see the announcement and come to the hotel and are not happy we are more than happy to help find another hotel and book them out and refund the money. The breakfast operations are limited at the moment, therefore we do have to use the paper plates temporarily. Cost wise the paper plates do work out to be more so we're very keen to return to normal. It is a difficult time for us so please bear with us, the lobby is going to look awesome once completed.

Hope you will visit again and give us another chance.

Kind Regards,

Sabrina

My son and i stayed here recently.Very comfortable and clean, some refurbishments were going on but was kept to a minimum. The staff were friendly and always willing to help.My concern was the food was quite expensive we got burger and chips plus a coke each and it cost £26 that would be my main concern also no radiators in rooms.

Room Tip: A room at the front would be better as the trains pass the back.

Many thanks for your review, good to hear you found the hotel to be comfortable and clean. Sorry to hear you found the food to be expensive, the average price for two in the greater London area is around the £13.00 mark , £26.00 for two. There isn't much we can do about it i'm afraid, the pricing would be considered as reasonable.

We hope to see you again soon.

Kind Regards,

Sabrina

Stayed overnight on the Monday of half term week in October prior to visiting the Harry Potter Studios.
Booked a room for 2 adults and two teenagers. Room was a little cramped but absolutely fine for one night.
Only issue on check in was that the hotel was only expecting one guest and not four! This was quickly remedied with the making up of the sofa bed and the supply of more towels. We had booked the room via booking.com.
Comfy and large double bed, but a squeaky sofa bed.
Very modern layout with not much seating space in reception.
Better than expected choice at breakfast. Plenty of choice and all piping hot.
Reception staff were helpful, pointing us in the direction of where we could get some food and supplying an emergency nail file when I broke a nail.
Would definitely use again if we are in the area.
Excellent value for money.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Watford junction for one night to visit Harry Potter Studio Tour. The hotel is ideally situated for Watford Junction train station and to get the Studio Tour bus. The room was spotless and looks newly refurbished, the beds were very comfortable with a choice of firm or soft pillows. The bathroom was lovely with and excellent shower and body wash/shampoo provided, there was a handy night light in the bathroom. The staff were polite. The only negative at the present time is that the reception area and restaurant are being refurbished so the reception staff are in an area under the stairs and the restaurant area is partially a building site. We ate dinner in the restaurant as it was convenient, limited choice on the menu but the prices were very reasonable and the meals we had were very enjoyable. Breakfast was very good. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
