Owner description: Willen Lake is Milton Keynes’ most popular park. Over one million visitors a year take part in watersports activities, go cycling, enjoy the playground, try the high ropes course or simply picnic along Willen’s shores. It’s a great place to entertain all ages of family and friends, whether it’s a visit to the café or restaurant, a stroll, trying a beginners’ course in sailing or hiring a pedalo or bike. The park is open year round and there is no admission fee, other than during special events when some areas may be unavailable to the general public, or a fee may be charged. (Note that car parking charges apply.) Leisure activities at Willen Lake are managed by Whitecap Leisure Ltd, a trading subsidiary of The Parks Trust.

Visited again with two young children and a dog after leaving a previous review and hoping that some notice might have been taken by the administration, Encouraged by many peoples positive reports. Conclusion - still insufficient rubbish bins around the lake (but plenty of picnic areas) and a complete absence of doggy poo bins around the lake, in spite of plenty of notices for owners to be pick up their doggies contributions,
Bearing in mind it takes a good 40 mins to walk around the lake (more if you meander and take the longer route). Lots of rubbish and doggy bins near the admin areas but who remains just there? Cafe is distinctly unimpressive but the children's playground very good. Toilets were dirty and appeared not to be regularly serviced. Better free public toilets on the French auto route system.
I am going to mark this down because although all the natural facilities (lake, view, gardens} are lovely, those issues within the administrators control are not and they clearly do not listen to criticism although it is intended to be constructive. Time for some customer focus training....or maybe just a change.

We are sorry to hear your recent visit to Willen Lake was disappointing. Did you know that Willen Lake is owned by The Parks Trust who are a self-financing charity? Across our 6,000 acres of parkland we spent over £347,000 on litter and the associated costs last year. Across Willen Lake we do allow for dog waste in all of our bins in a bid to help with collecting dog poo. The Café is not owned or operated by Willen Lake but we will of course pass your feedback onto them. We are planning on completing a minor refurb of the toilets this season and do have brand new toilets available the other side of the lawn (attached to Splash ‘n’ Play) which are available for the public to use. Many thanks

This splash zone was great fun. The water was a tad cold so my 7 month old didn’t enjoy it. But my 2 year old loved it. He was shivering too but I don’t think it bothered him much. The weather was 28deg.

It s okay. £2 off peak per child, parents go for free. Toilets were very dirty. Not enough spaces for parents to sit. Not well managed. May be short on staff! It s a shame could be better. Lucky there is one in Leighton Buzzard for free!
The day I went they had an issue and they gave us a session for free. If you wish to call them do not bother (phone number on their website)! Nobody answer.

Willen Lake is one of the primary attractions in Milton Keynes. With loads of green spaces MK has to offer, there are plenty of open places to hang around with family and friends. Willen Lake with its two lakes and the Peace Pagoda are brilliant for a day out.

The south lake has a restaurant inside the Premier Travel Inn and a cafe near the bandstand. There is a children’s play area as well as a newly created splash zone.

There are pedalos, kayaks available to rent and there is also a water sports centre for surf boarding. There is a mini train that runs on a tiny track as well as an Aerial Xtreme centre. So basically there is loads to do.

The north lake has a lovely Peace Pagoda and a Buddhist temple. It is certainly a must visit. There is also a Stonehenge and a labyrinth with a BMX track.

Locals flock to this lake on good summer days for picnics. There is plenty of parking available on both sides.

Willen Lake promises an awesome day out for everyone.

The activities planned were so much fun. Big shout to Chloe for organising it all and being accommodating for our requests. Did zorb football first which despite not being our first choice couldn’t have been better. Finished off with some fun on the lake in Katakanus. Everyone got involved and had fun. The instructor we had was really good and we played a variety of activities. Definitely recommend.
