I was at a wedding on Saturday at 12.30pm and check in wasn't until 2pm - I rang prior to my arrival and due to a 'complimentary upgrade' the room wasn't ready. I had to get changed for a wedding in the leisure changing rooms. We returned after the wedding at around 6pm to check in to our upgraded room to find that there was no upgrade, we were given just a standard room. Obviously there had been a change of staff from when I rang in the morning to when I questioned the room and they didn't have any idea that I had been upgraded, but half arsely attempted to 'see what's available', but I refused as it was reasonably late and it would mean moving all mine and my friends things from the other room.

I later found that that due to the massive rush I had left my clothes in the changing rooms. They were not handed in to lost property nor were they still there when I had gone back to check. Had I not been 'complimentary upgraded' I would have been able to get changed in the standard room that would have been available at 12pm, and I wouldn't have had to return home top, legging and braless!

Night staff reasonably helpful but not as expected when I was running up and down trying to find my lost clothes however the morning staff were more polite but my issue still wasn't resolved. Somebody Is walking around Bolton wearing my bra!!

We arrived this weekend and the place was just dirty and not cleaned. Having had to rush to a wedding, we told the staff of the issues and some sort of cleaning attempt was made.

Cheap it was and as the saying goes, you pay for what you get!

With a broken iron, hair on the bath tub and no clean sheets, avoid unless you want to a horrible night's sleep!

Really enjoyed the stay here helpful staff and top quality breakfast good central place to stay its walking distance to all the shops in the town centre a nice place to relax I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in this hotel

The Holiday inn Bolton is a nice enough hotel, very much like any other Holiday Inn. My Partner and I have stayed a number of times. Each time we've had the same problems.
1. The bed in each room we've had was so soft we suffered bad backs and a poor night's sleep.
2,. The beds have been on wheels. Sit on the side and it moves across the room.
3. The bathrooms have been in desperate need of refurbishment. The toilet needed repeated "pumping" to get it to flush. The sink didn't empty without intervention.
4. Our room faced the back of the hotel, where the air conditioning units sat on a low roof and woke my partner in the middle of the night.
The hotel has underground car parking which is a plus.
I regularly use this brand of hotel, but the Bolton branch needs some work to come up to the standards of the others.

Room tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel and executive rooms are mixed throughout.

Thank you for your review and feedback following your most recent stay from which I was disappointed to learn of the issues which you experienced. I have passed your comments regarding the bed issues you experienced on to our Head of Housekeeping to investigate but can confirm that we are in the process of upgrading our mattresses over the next few months which is in line with Holiday Inn Brand Standards. Whilst we do not currently have a full refurbishment programme in place we do update and replace items as and when required. I have noted your comments and have passed them on to our Maintenance Team to address. Please be assured that all comments are acted upon and used to improve the products and service we provide to our guests. The Hotel does have two car parks for our guests use one as you mention is underground the other is above ground and both are complimentary.

The hotel is fine, in a good location within an easy walk to the city centre. Breakfast is really good!
Unfortunately we were woken at about 8am by the cleaners on Monday morning have a full blown conversation right outside our door (118) - I went outside to see what all the commotion was about and to make sure they knew we were still sleeping but they continued - at full volume to have a debate about their working conditions!
All in all a good stay, really polite reception staff, shame the cleaners didn't have the same attitude to customer satisfaction!
