Speaking to the staff who were saying they have only been going for 5 years. Very excitable staff member who is loving what he does which is wonderful. For only £2 an adult it's well worth it and some of the accessories on sale are at giveaway prices. This business will build and build and get bigger and BIGGER !!!

Situated in Markeaton Park on the main A38 (opposite McDonalds). Amazing working model railways in various scales. Child friendly with "push buttons" for them to work. Informative staff and exhibition material. Worth every penny of £2 per adult - in fact would have happily paid more!! Not open every day so check the website and dont forget change for the pay and display car park. Will come again - even the wife enjoyed it !!!

As we are interested in Heritage railways we decided to check out this place, which has the largest Model railway in the East Midlands. It is run by very pleasant and knowledgeable volunteers who were all keen to explain the history of the local area and railway. The layout, which is still a work in progress, was fascinating in its detail, with several trains running at the time we visited. There was a wealth of information to read and plenty for children to do, including a special layout which they could operate themselves. For £2.00 it was most enjoyable.

This is a really excellent place, well worth a visit. This is the type of place that makes England that bit more interesting and I would recommend visiting.

A great way to spend an hour if you have a child or children interested in model trains at a very decent cost - £4 for a family, currently. There is a main track occupying one wall, and several smaller tracks around the room, some with buttons to press that will prompt an action.

The volunteers are very helpful. We spoke with John who showed our 10 year old son how to operate trains on one of the smaller circuits and allowed him to have a go.

This is clearly a labour of love, and they have plans for more. It deserves your support if you have an hour to spare, especially on a showery day.
