Every visit has been filled with life long memories.

This is a classic, Gothic, perpendicular masterpiece of architecture wrought by centuries of love and devotion to the worship of God and Jesus his son.

One of only 3 County Cathedrals in the UK that have a Monarch buried inside is cool, quiet and time less atmosphere, with a full rectangular cloister, glimpsed in the famous Harry Potter stories.

Try and visit during a choral period, when you can sit in the presence of the choir and hear Vespers, a moving and thought evening service, that is open to all, in the heart of the cathedral, that is the local church of Gloucester.
Enjoy the mystery of 2000 years of faith in a building 1200 years in the making.

Thank PHILIP B

....visit this previous cathedral. I have strong personal connections, nevertheless it is objectively a fine place with outstanding historical significance. A former King of England is buried here, scenes from Harry Potter filmed here, breathtaking choral and musical events are held here. It’s a place for reflection whatever you believe and it is bang in the middle of the city. A super cafe. A couple of hours max, but if you only have 5 minutes - just walk in !

Lots to see. The stained glass is simply beautiful. The cloister is a calm and peaceful place to walk through. The monks kitchen offers a nice selection of light meals, snacks and hot or cold drinks.

If you get a chance to walk through, please give them a few pounds. A 1000 year old church is a site to see. We went on a self-guided tour of some of the Harry Potter film locations, this is a must if you are a fan!

Please don’t leave Gloucester without a visit to this place. First abbey on the site dates back to 6th century. Well worth a visit
