Hotels with no air conditioning are at a major disadvantage in hot weather and for this I sympathise, but on this particular visit, I just thought the rooms were tired and sloppy errors made by housekeeping. The staff were as attentive as ever and were polite, but there were just one or two aspects that made be think standards were dropping.

Dear Nicholas

Thankyou for taking the time to share your review and feedback.

It is great to read that the team continued to be attentive during your stay and i would like to reassure you that we are constantly looking to improve upon our standards. I duly note your feedback and will investigate with the team.

Regrettably only our top floor suites and studios benefit from air conditioning, which in this unprecedented hot weather is proving a challenge. Locally we have just purchased some modern tower fans which have been well received and we're working on a long term solution with our head office colleagues.

We sincerely hope to welcome you back again in the near future.

Best regards

Just a nice comfortable place to stay with lovely staff and a great location. The Bistro menu is very straightforward without being dull and the food was delicious. The staff in the Bistro were especially friendly and relaxed.
Monsoon shower and massive deep bath with loads of hot water were also very welcome.

We stayed on HdV’s Sunday night deal which is particularly good because it is flexible and you can cancel if necessary. All in all, a winner.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the hotel don’t have a view of the Stray in Harrogate but they are quiet.

We stayed overnight for our wedding anniversary, having booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package. On arrival, we were delighted to find that we'd been upgraded to a better room (which had a lovely separate sitting area and a roll top bath). Dinner was delicious and our waitress was fantastic - seeming like she genuinely cared and with a sense of humour too. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is also perfectly located in central Harrogate - great for popping for a pre-dinner drink or a spot of shopping. We loved it.

We stayed at this hotel yesterday, it has the best location in Harrogate and great parking facilities. The hotel and staff are amazing, beautifully presented and very clean. Room well equipped with kettle, free coffees and toiletries. HOWEVER.... we had the WORST nights sleep ever! The room was so hot and there is no air con. We couldn’t have the window open as the road was so noisy and there were people laughing and singing outside, there must have been a party on. Also people singing and joking in the corridors all hours. We complained to reception the next morning, but they said there wasn’t a party and they never usually have this complaint - no compensation. But the next couple to check out were greated by the receptionist by saying “did you enjoy the party here last night!” And the guests said oh yes we were very merry singing outside!

Dear Cally S

Many thanks for your feedback following your recent stay with us.

I am pleased that you enjoyed the hotel and that all staff were amazing as they take great pride in there roles.

Unfortunately, the hotel does not have air conditioning and i can only apologise if this caused discomfort whilst sleeping. We do provide fans to all guest bedrooms as well as complimentary water, but I appreciate that on this particularly hot evening it may not have sufficed. We have recently invested in some new quieter tower fans which seem to be well received by our guests, so we will be rolling these through the bedrooms in the coming months.

In terms of the party, we didn't actually have any events happening in the hotel that evening, but a group had been enjoying themselves in Harrogate Town, on the hotels doorstep.

We do hope that on reflection you will consider staying with us again in the near future and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Best regards

Friendly reception and welcome. Had booked a basement room without realising, through Booking.com, which was very spacious with all facilities: nespresso, wine, champagne glasses, kettle, dressing gowns and slippers. However it has its own separate entrance in a mews down some steps which we got soaked getting to. The decor was very tired and is in need of a refurbish with paint peeling off the wall, but it was clean. Additionally the room we had, Wolf Blaas (great name and particularly fitting as this is my favourite wine!) was underneath the restaurant so had staff and guests stomping around from early morning. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food but had a glass of wine and there is a pleasant courtyard if the weather is nice. Great location as right in centre of Harrogate and parking outside hotel £10/24 hours which we thought was reasonable. Thought room overpriced though.

Dear Teejay12

Many thanks for your review and feedback.

It's pleasing to read that your overall stay with us was very enjoyable and you liked the facilities.

Our basement rooms are priced accordingly under our standard price, as although well appointed and spacious, they do have overhead noise when the bistro and reception is busy. This is something that we are looking to improve to further enhance these rooms, but is likely to be a long term project.

In regards to the cosmetic issues raised, we are actively resolving this as we speak with our group maintenance team.

We do hope to welcome you back again in the near future.

Best regards
