I recently stayed her with my daughter after booking a trip with Stena line which included a hotel but had to bring holiday forward a week due to unforeseen circumstances. I tried to change it with Stena line but no joy thankfully an exceptional manager at the Talbot by the name of Ruth changed it for us. Thank you so much Ruth you went above and beyond. DONT BOOK A HOLIDAY THROUGH STENA LINE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO ISSUES WHICH MAY NEED YOU TO CHANGE YOUR PLANS

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view only 10 euros to upgrade well worth it

I was due to stay at the Wexford Talbot several weeks ago but at the last minute the hotel cancelled my booking (due apparently to a coach load of tourists arriving) and swopped me into the nearby Clayton - where i ended up in whats best described as a box room.
On this occasion i actually made it to the hotel where the car parking was convenient and free to guests.
At the reception my arrival was handled well and i was given the sea view room booked on the previous occasion. (see pictures)
Room was well presented with coffee/tea making and loads of electical sockets (a bugbear of mine in todays age where you can't have enough when travelling!!)
Bed was comfortable and generally the hotel standard was good.
I had dinner included - 4 courses but opted to use the bar - a bit disappointed to find that swopping to the bar meant i got on a 15euro credit - equal to one course. Not great plus the little kids from a reception in the hotel using the bar like a playground......and i mean like a climbing frame under and over the tables.
Food was good and service also good.
Breakfast next day was as i would expect however the stay was ended in a negative when checking out.
I had all my booking recharged to my company so just needed to leave the room key - 20 minutes wait as there was just one person at reception (actually a second one was there who disappeared completely ignoring the people waiting) who was dealing with an issue with other guests - it would really have helped to have someone brought in to help when it was clear the problem check out was not going to be strait forward,
that aside, a good nights stay and would recommend a room with a view of the harbour area - lovely sunset although i can't credit the hotel with sunset!

Room Tip: harbour view on the 5th floor

We stayed for two nights during a touring holiday. Nicely situated on the quayside in Wexford and handy for the towns facilities. We chose a sea/river view room which sadly overlooked what may be a recent development of flats... We could however see the water so?? Food at breakfast was okay with the usual fare, and a pretty good selection of options. The room was nicely sized and quiet during our stay with usual facilities. You have to book breakfast separately if you wish to eat at the hotel. I would advise you do this at booking and save 10%. We forgot. Staff were helpful and friendly. The food in the bar was nice and worth considering if you do not want to venture out. We are not 'fine diners' so cannot comment re any restaurants. There was plenty of off-road parking all free.

Stayed here in June 2018 with Shearings . Very good hotel with spacious rooms and good facilities. Good TV and internet reception. Restaurant and food good and staff helpful and friendly. Hotel is right by the river and 5 minutes from the High st in Wexford town.

Room Tip: Rooms at front overlook town and river.

On the waterfront at Wexford, the Talbot features a great restaurant and bar, a lovely tea room along with spacious rooms overlooking the water. Car parking was close and it was easy walking to all local attractions. Hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful. The manager was friendly and welcoming. We only had one night there, but loved it.
