Perfectly located beneath the looming Croagh Patrick, this small apartment was an ideal base for exploring West Ireland. The modern and well decorated apartment is a great size for two people, and has everything you need, including a kitchen and breakfast bar (microwave, hobs, fridge and dishwasher) within the living room (TV, DVD player and Bluetooth Speakers). The bedroom is comfortable with a modern en suite, and the whole apartment is decorated with the art and photographs of the owners. Wi-Fi is available, although we found the connection to be slow and intermittent, so was only useful for checking directions!
Unless you are happy to walk a mile or so (which may not be advisable in the dark), then the nearest pubs and restaurants are a short drive or taxi ride away. In Murrisk there are several options, although the food at The Tavern was our personal highlight. Westport is not much further and offers loads of pubs and restaurants, plus traditional music into the early hours.
Using the apartment as a base, we explored Westport (bustling), the 42km Greenway Cycle Route from Achill to Westport, Clare Island (peaceful, isolated walks), the summit of Croagh Patrick itself (incredible views), Connemara National Park (scenic), and Galway. Clew Bay itself is absolutely stunning, and Bertra Strand offers a nice beach/dune walk into the Bay and views over to Clare and Achill Islands.More
