This was my return trip to John and Mary in Ballyhoura. It's hard to capture the quiet and serenity that can be sometimes hard to come by nowadays. But in a setting from a Disney movie , with the luxury of 5 star accommodation , it really is hard to beat. I have travelled much of our beautiful island but Ballyhoura I keep returning to and thoroughly recommend. Accommodation is spacious and spotless.
My home from home.
We are just home from a weekend break. We loved it & we had an added bonus of excellent weather. The house was beautiful & had everything we needed. Kids loved making bridges & huts in the forest. Very safe area for them to play in.
Thanks John for a great weekend we will be back
Ourselves and our friends hired two lodges here over the May Bank Holiday. The lodges are very well equipped and lacked nothing. Nice and clean, plenty of space in the living are and bedrooms. The log burning stoves were lovely. We all loved the fact there was no mobile reception/Internet access (except the kids for the first 5 minutes but they got over it). The kids loved the space and freedom and spent hours running around and playing on the zip wire. We had a lovely forest walk on the Sunday and then headed to Donerail park after checking out on Monday. Would definitely recommend Ballyhoura for a family or group break away. We all said we would definitely go back
We're just home from a 3 night stay at this lovely place, feeling more refreshed and relaxed than I can remember in a long time. This is the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just chill.
The accommodation was excellent- bright, clean, well equipped and very spacious. There were a couple of play areas dotted around onsite that the kids enjoyed (my daughter especially loved the zip wire - she had to be physically prised off when we were leaving), and a forest walk practically on our doorstep (the kids loved this too. They pretended they were exploring a jungle and at dusk we went on a bat hunt).
The Ballyhoura region is so beautiful, and the property's location in Ballyorgan is ideal for touring around the south - Bunratty Castle and Folk Park in Co. Clare and Blarney in Co. Cork are within an hour's drive.
I would most definitely return to this lovely place!

My daughter thought we were going to be staying in some rustic mountain lodge when I told her where we were going. She and we were delighted with what met us. The houses are well kitted out, clean, warm and really spacious. John and Mary were very welcoming. The setting is beautiful, so peaceful, the air so fresh and there is a lovely little obstacle course for the kids. We'll definitely be back. For some bizarre reason even though the houses are in Limerick we mainly explored North Cork. Doneraile Park and Millstreet Country Park are both well worth a visit.
