“A Peaceful Country Wonder”
Reviewed 27 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at Ballykeeffe during our recent trip trough Ireland and this property would rate well against against any in which I have ever stayed.

This is a home (much more than a rental)! It is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and the restoration process has been carried out with great care in an old fashioned tradesman like manner. It is a credit to Bridgette and Dan.

The property is part of a working farm but is quite separate and self contained. You will love the peace and quiet, broken occasionally by birds and the odd cow.

The property has three lovely rooms and three bathrooms. There is the vast kitchen dining area, a lounge room and a further sitting room - all classically decorated.

Outside is a very large courtyard with lawned area and heaps of room for your car. Once again, the area is beautifully presented with great attention to detail.

The property is a easy 7-8 kilometer drive out of Kilkenny, set among the green rolling hills. If your looking for something special, then treat yourself to a stay at Ballykeeffe Farmhouse.

“On our way back this week!”
Reviewed 26 August 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The host Brigid is full of true Irish hospitality and can't do enough for you, the fresh scones a lovely touch! I know Kilkenny well as my mum was born there and my family still live there so I go to Ireland quite a lot. My family has grown and we need somewhere to stay and this house is perfect. very traditional with lots of space. 'Off grid' experience and perfect for exploring Ireland. Kilkenny is a vibrant city surrounded by stunning scenery. It's a must and this is a great base. we are returning this week for a week with friends and their young daughter and we can't wait! It is a little hard to find, it's just past Dooleys engineering firm (Dooley's on the left.) there is a long drive down to the house past another house at the top of the drive.

Fabulous time in the farmhouse. We were surprised at how big it was, so cryptically country farm stay. Brigid and Danny were great. We loved our stay.

“Comfortable and Welcoming”

Stayed at Ballykeeffe in June with friends and had a brilliant time. The farmhouse has plenty of room (3 bathrooms a definite bonus for 6 adults) and excellent facilities - everything you could think of (microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, gas BBQ, garden furniture, pool table, basketball net, wood for fire, lovely comfortable beds). Is very quiet and peaceful location with easy taxi ride into Kilkenny (we paid 20-25 euros each way for a minibus for 6 - very good value). Brigid made us feel very welcome, providing milk, butter, jam and soda bread for our arrival, and showing us around to make us feel at home.
Whilst there we visited the Rock of Cashel - well worth a visit (have tea and cake in the little cafe near the carpark), and Kilkenny a number of times. Visit The Field for the best pint of Kilkenny - we sampled a few, and Lanigans on Sunday night for an excellent band (Measca).
Some directions given on reviews aren't very accurate but isn't that hard to find. R695 out of Kilkenny, past the John Deere Garage on the left, past Dooley Brothers Engineering on the left, next left (L10131), follow road to bottom and you'll see the farmyard with the red painted doors.
Can't recomment this property enough - would love to return
