For our wedding anniversary we decided to take a gate away weekend to Killarney and stay in Cahernane house.
Cahernane house is situated on a private estate on the edge of Killarney National park. We arrived early afternoon with a gorgeous sunny day. We were given an amazing room with view of the garden and the surrounding mountains, and after unwinding with a glass of vine we decided to stroll to Killarney town. There are several great restaurants that would satisfy every taste, and nice pubs to have a drink and listen to some music.
The following day, my wife convinced me to go and visit the Gap of Dunloe. I wasn’t sure as did not want to spend a full day out, but the choice was the best. Guess women are always right
We arrived at the starting point and hired a horse and carriage. Our guide was a lovely guy, that explained everything about the surrounding area and made the visit special. The scenery is unique, and I would recommend to anyone to dedicate a day to visit the gap.
The return we had to cross 2 lakes and arrived back around 5 pm
Overall everything was perfect, and we will go back to Killarney and Cahernane house in future.More
