While passing through, dropped in for evening dinner. Waiter was very hospitable and helpful. Dinner was high quality, though a little pricey for an evening dinner.
Ended our visit to Killarney here. It was fantastic. The Boxty was delicious - I had a the chicken and my aunt had the vegetarian - both were excellent and very different. My mom had the chicken filo which was also good - but don’t get it if you don’t like blue cheese!
We also had the bruschetta and had the warm chocolate cake for dessert (very rich). Very reasonably priced, some of the best service we experienced in Ireland from the moment we walked through the door and was greeted by the owner to when he saw us out. Our server, Bridie was also excellent. Great experience top to bottom.
Took my husband and four children out for a lovely meal here and loved it. Not so much for the food which was good, super fresh homemade bread, yummy chowder, boxtys which were different, maybe a little heavy and somewhat greasy but tasty enough. The highlight for us was the attentiveness of the staff and the ambience of the decadent dining room. Quaint and yet refined with lots of character. Despite being busy we were made to feel welcome and ‘cared for’ by all. The kids loved their crab claws and goujons which were homemade and decent sized portions. An all round great night, we would definitely repeat again.
Very happy with our choice to finish our Killarney visit at Bricin. Atmosphere is great- traditionally, classically decorated...Dimmer lighting, quieter as opposed to lively...Service was top notch- our server was so friendly, helpful and very attentive. We were excited to try the Boxtys- both the chicken and the lamb were both good, with the lamb having a slight advantage. They are essentially like pot pie fillings, but sandwiched within a potato pancake instead of a crust. They also brought extra salads to go with them, so if you finish and would like more, just ask! The shining stars of the meal were the crab claws and the seafood chowder. The mussels were good, too, as was the homemade walnut bread. The only dish we didn't enjoy at all was the fried camembert. It was most definitely not camembert for starters. It was greasy on the outside and undercooked (ie. unmelted) on the inside- my guess would be the oil was not hot enough. We couldn't even finish one of the 'balls' and would definitely advise against ordering this dish.
