We were so disappointed, as we drove from Killarney only to Cahersiveen and got back to Killarney. Regular road with some sea views, but nothing breathtaking :( We have seen better rings that really deserve to be seen, but not this one.

I can't say enough about how beautiful this drive is. The views are spectacular and we were lucky to have a clear day, so we could see everything. There are many spots along the way to stop and admire the views and take photos. I would highly recommend this drive.

If you're in Killarney and don't have time for the full ring, do a mini-ring to the south. Drive down to Kenmare, then Sneem. When you get to Sneem, take a right onto R568 (which takes you back to Molls Gap. Beautiful mountain scenery that's sadly missed by most people on tour busses.
Note: We found that in the summer (when the trees are full) the view of Kenmare Bay can be a little underwhelming from the road between Kenmare and Sneem. There just aren't that many spots where you can actually see the water.

Beautiful 100 mile drive through the bog marshes up the mountain. Great scenic views. Winding road through some small towns. Views of Skellig Michael from Valencia Island. Had heard so much about this drive, it didn't quite live up to the hype.

With its diverse scenery and spectacular views, this area is well worth the effort. We were staying near Kinsale, so quite a drive, certainly glad we allowed ourselves a whole day. In the National Park, Lady's View is lovely and the cafe opposite is highly reccommended.
