The Cafe is located in a heritage building (what isn’t in Ireland?) on The Claddagh. The menu is small but interesting, local and very nice. Pass through the Spanish Arch and you are there. After lunch, pop into the museum. Well worth dropping in.

We had lunch here the other day and we ordered the fishcakes. They were overcooked but we were pressed for time so did not complain. Probably because they were overcooked there was no taste of the fish. We have eaten here a few times and we were always pleased with our meal. We will come back as the food, atmosphere, and service are great. Great location overlooking the river.

Comfortable rustic room, attentive service and really interesting, delicious food. Close to the Latin Quarter, just far away enough to escape the chaos.

We had a party of 6 people nine years ago and walked in without knowing anything about it. We all loved it! Yvonne, the owner, was our server at that time and we remembered her. She made us laugh a lot. Outgoing personality and remember she had interesting funny socks. She was memorable. So when we came to Galway again 9 years later we stopped in to see if Yvonne was still the owner and to have breakfast. Yvonne was off that day. Again the food was the BEST!!! Highly recommended!

Firstly, the food is second to none. We came here as a family without any expectations - we were lucky enough to have been given some vouchers by friends and booked kind of last minute. A tip - don't arrive early - the doors don't open until 6pm, so if you book for 6pm and arrive at 5:45, expect to sit outside. Luckily it was sunny. The staff are very welcoming. We had between us the goat's cheese starter, the lamb shoulder, the hot smoked salmon and the octopus and pork belly. No complaints! The kids shared the monkfish main; we had a vegetarian main and the rib eye steak. The rib eye is the stuff of dreams; if you have an idea of what a perfect steak should be, this is probably it. Deserts: Lemon parfait, cheese plate and two of us had a chocolate ganache each. These were all sumptuous also. We had a glass of what was described as a sweet fortified Malbec to go with the chocolate ganache - this is worth waiting for. We'll definitely be back - and if you're looking for somewhere to eat in Galway, this restaurant is well worth visiting, especially on an empty stomach!!
