Despite the fact that the tour is delivered in a light hearted manner there is plenty to be learned in this very appealing Museum..Its a great way of finding out a little about Dublin, its history and its people ...Some great Memorabilia on display in relation to the recent cultural history of the City..
A great introduction to the humour and intelligence prevalent in our fine Capital delivered in a very charming manner by June
.. I did feel that the tour could have been a little longer as there is so much to be covered. The Museum is a little tight on space and I think the exhibition on the first floor could be somewhat smaller...its a fabulous building though and very atmospheric....Overall an excellent experience that I would highly recommend

This quaint museum appears “off the beaten” path of top things to do in Dublin but is fabulous. All items are donated over the years by local Dubliners and tell a compelling and authentic story of the city and Ireland’s coming to be. Fiona was the tour guide and terrific with a wonderful Irish sense of humor. The guided tour itself takes 30 minutes but reserve an hour to explore the rest of the museum’s treasures on your own! (Hint: there is a really cool room dedicated to U2!)

Very cute, really cool. Great price. Amazingly friendly people. It's really interesting learning more about the history of Dublin....not just about pubs ;-)

Cute and cool does describe us perfectly. We do mention the ENORMOUS importance of pubs in Dublin but certainly not exclusively!

This is a little gem of a museum and tour. You must go through with a guide and ours was June.
We had the 5pm tour and got only two rooms on the first floor. As June explained, all objects in these and, perhaps, other rooms, have been donated by Dubliners: the place is like a collective memory of add facts, such as the “condom train” from the south to Belfast, in the days when contraception was not available in the Irish Republic. June told us that the women who made that trip came back with ordinary pills and when greeted by police, they tossed their ordinary pills into the crowd: one hopes that no one took one, hoping to have sex without the consequences!
Next to the condom train black and white photograph was a small red curtain and I asked what was behind it, thinking it might be a commemorative plaque of some sort. Not a bit of it. It was a colour photograph of Nell McCafferty, in all her naked glory. She regarded her body and all others as beautiful and worthy of display.
Nell remains a feisty lady, June told us, and a few years ago some visitor complained that the naked Nell being inappropriate, so the red curtain.
Nell is magnificent and you should ask your guide to have a look to appreciate a proud woman.
Other oddities (you can look for your own) include portraits of Mohammed Ali (Cassius Clay) and Ernesto “Che” Guevara. Why?
I thought, perhaps, their radical politics?
No.
It’s because of their Irish descent. June did not reveal Ali’s antecedents, but said that “Che” mother was a Lynch.
A little museum it may be, but it’s full of big stories from the citizens of Dublin.
