Thanks to all staff for making our visit special. Your friendly service was brilliant from the moment we arrived. We liked our accommodation, everything as expected and it was very comfortable. We very much enjoyed our dinner within The Chop and Ale House. Being greeted by name by the restaurant manager was something special. The ambience, the service and the food were all fantastic. The breakfast staff were brilliant too and we were served up a truly excellent breakfast. Fast, efficient and very friendly check out. Thanks to all at The Champany Inn.

The Champany Inn is a bit of a find. It does not seem to be easily booked on-line and for this reason is not as busy as it should be. This is good news for the average traveler. They have a terrific Chop House serving great traditional foods. I love the ornate decorating and hope they don't change. We arrived during the August Festivals. Take the train into Edinburgh from Linlithgow which is only 2 miles away. We parked in the city park lot and were not ticketed though our car was there all day. If you travel by train after 9:15 am and after 7:00 pm you will save about half the cost of the commuter fare.

Room Tip: They are all the same and are all great!

Stayed here for 2 nights in one if their truly Scottish rooms. It’s a beautiful hotel and the staff are excellent. There were 2 miniature bottles of gin and whiskey left in the room every day, and that was a lovely thought.
We ate in the Chop and Ale house which was lovely although a think that they take char grilled to a whole new level. The food was very chargrilled but still ok.
Afterwards we went to the Champagne bar which was really lovely although I did find the bar manager a little pompous, something that I couldn’t have said about anyone else. Maybe as we weren’t eating in their famous Michelin starred restaurant, we weren’t going to be spending as much money as others, but we did have a few glasses of champagne.
Breakfast was very very good, and you can have as many combinations of the different options offered.
The only other thing that I’d say is the hotel is a little twee now, and maybe the hotel in general, needs a little updating. Buy new crockery and upgrade the bathrooms, both in the bedrooms and the general toilets.
Don’t get me wrong, as this is still a beautiful hotel!!!

We'd stayed before so we were anticipating the visit with a degree of relish. We were not disappointed. The rooms are exceptional - large and comfortable with very acceptable freebies for your arrival. The staff are exceptional - from the reception, through domestic services to catering for breakfast. Breakfast is exceptionally good - prepared in front of your eyes. The early entry and late departure times give a flexibility fairly rare in hotels now. This is probably one of the best places I have ever stayed in and I'll certainly be back.
