I wish Epona cottage was my forever home. Such a warm and welcoming cottage that truly felt like a home from home. We stayed for 4 nights in October and admittedly, we fell incredibly lucky with the weather, We wish we had booked for longer but as this was our first trip together to the Isle we opted for a short stay in case of bad weather. Honestly, it wouldn't have mattered if it had poured it down all day every day, this would still have been an amazing place. The open fire made it all the more cosy and making up the fire became my favourite thing to do. The kitchen is well equipped, we brought along our slow cooker out of laziness but had we been inclined to make a three course meal for a family we would have had everything we needed. The bed, wow, that bed. Its huge! And so comfy and warm. Had the outside world not had so much to offer I could have stayed in that bed all day. Its darker than I have ever experienced on Waternish, I think a school trip to a colliery in my youth was the closest to how dark it was, and the only sound was the wind outside, which made for an excellent nights sleep. it also makes for excellent star gazing, the milky way being crystal clear. We were lucky enough to see the Aurora one night too! If you are planning a visit, i recommend "liking" Glendale Skye Aurora on Facebook, as it regularly updates if it is visible.
The owners are an incredibly warm and welcoming couple, who we were sad to say good bye to but pleased to know we will see again. I cant wait to come back Mr and Mrs Bradshaw, see you next year and thank you for a wonderful stay.
We stumbled upon Epona Cottage via an online search and are so glad we did. It's a magical, cosy cottage in a totally stunning location overlooking the sea on the Waternish peninsula. The cottage itself felt like home as soon as we walked through the door, with bags of character and quirkiness unlike so many holiday lets which have a bland, uniform feel. Janet and Ian were superb hosts and made us feel very welcome. We had three young kids with us who loved the place, especially the variety of farm animals close by. We'd love to go back some day.
My husband, our pets and I stayed here for one week. The cottage was very clean with all the comforts of home and then some! It is decorated in a traditional style, with the most amazing sea views. Hours could be spent looking out the windows at the views. The hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The only caveat is that it is very isolated, a good 15 min drive on a one lane road to the 'local' pub, the Stein Inn. The nearest shop is in Dunvegan, approximately 10 miles away. This adds to the charm of the cottage, but may not be for everyone. And make sure to bring all of your cooking needs, as you don't want to discover that you are out of oil as you are cooking your dinner! Many awesome walks are available from your doorstep. The owners are considering putting in wifi which will add yet another amenity. Enjoy!

Quiet, rural setting, beautiful views across the sea, loads of wild life, friendly owners/locals all very helpful. Comfy, well presented cottage, lovely open fire by evening, everything we needed supplied (we're a family of 5, our 3 girls all under 5yrs! Accommodation is quaint and homely, well maintained, good quality towels and bedding, clean and spacious) Plenty of local attractions/places/restaurants to visit, boat rides to see even more wildlife.
